Astutusreissu - Päivä 2 / Mating Trip - Day 2

Aamu alkoi sitten aikaisin. Jotenkin uusi paikka, uudet äänet ja muu herättivät meidät aikaisin aamusta. Lexie oli levoton, joten aloitimme aamun aikaisin. Onneksi aamiaisen tarjoilu aloitettiin jo kello 6.30, joten ehdin käydä koiran kanssa mutkan ja sitten säntäsin aamiaiselle. Syötin Lexien tämän jälkeen ja kävimme taas ulkona mutkan. Maha täynnä oli hyvä ottaa pienet päiväunet.

I started early everything this morning. Somehow a new place, new sounds, and other things woke us early in the morning. Lexie was really restless, so we started the day very early. Fortunately, the breakfast was served at 6:30, so I had time to go out with Lexie and then rush to breakfast. I gave food to Lexie too and then we went outside again. After with stomach full it did good to take a little nap.

Petri herätti minut soitollaan yhdeksän maissa ja kertoi progesteronitestin tulokset. LH-piikki oli ollut eilen eli tulos oli 2,5 eli tänään varmaan viiden tai kuuden maissa. Oli siis hyvä aika aloittaa hommat, vaikka oikea aika olisi varmasti vasta huomenna. Ilmoitin tuloksen Elinille ja hän sanoi, että testataan tänään. Sama antaa näiden puuhata niin paljon yhdessä kuin mahdollista.

Petri woke me up with a phone call at nine and told me the results of the progesteron test. LH peak was yesterday and the test showed 2,5, ie. today the count was probably five or six. So it was a good time to begin the tryouts, even though the right time would surely be tomorrow. I told the results to Elin and she said that we could test drive today. We let them have as much fun together as possible.

Yhdentoista maissa Elin tuli tutustuttamaan nämä kaksi rakastavaista toisiinsa. Täytyy sanoa, että Vind näyttää kuvissa hyvältä, mutta aivan uskomattoman hyvälle luonnossa. Upea merleuros! Ihastuin vain entistä enemmän tähän hienoon poikaan. Vindillä on mahtava luonne ja hän käyttäytyy nätisti tyttöjä kohtaan. Kun Vind näki Lexien ja Lexie Vindin, se oli rakkautta ensisilmäyksellä. Kävelimme pienen matkan puistoon. Kävelyn aikana Vind kävi lähentelemässä Lexietä, mutta aina tuli leikkihammasta kohti häntä kuin Lexietä ei kiinnostaisi lainkaan. Pysähdyimme rauhalliseen kohtaan ja pian parimme olikin hommissa ja nalkissa Elinin avustuksella. Lexie meinasi aluksi hieman huutaa, mutta lopetti sitten sen melko nopeasti ja nautti ilmeisesti hommasta. Homman jälkeen vein Lexien hotellihuoneeseen rauhoittumaan. Sama antaa rauhan laskeutua. Huomenna teemme saman uudelleen, koska aikaa on. Ei kannata kiireellä pilata.

About eleven o'clock Elin came to introduce these two lovers to each other. I must say that even thought Vind looks good in the pictures, he looks unbelievably good in nature. Great blue merle male! I fell in love in him even more. Vind has a wonderful temperament and he is behaving nicely with girls. When Vind saw Lexie and Lexie saw Vind, it was love at first sight. We walked a little bit in to the park. During walking Vind was sniffing Lexie, but always Lexie gave him those playful tooth, like she was not interested at all. We stopped at a quiet point, and soon our couple was on each other and stuck with Elin's little assistance. Lexie was screaming a little at first, but then she stopped it pretty quickly and obviously enjoyed the action. After the thing I took Lexie back to the hotel room. It was good to give her little time and space. Tomorrow we would do the same again, because we have all the time in the world. Let's not hurry this.

Lainasin hotellilta tämän jälkeen pyörän ja lähdin Elinin kanssa kaupungille. Matka ei ollut pitkä n. 2 km. Hotelli, jossa olemme on tosiaan hieman kaupungin ulkopuolella, mutta ei liikaa. Juuri sopivasti. Pyöriä täällä ei ole niin paljon kuin Kööpenhaminassa, mutta niiden määrä kasvoi huomattavasti keskustaa lähestyessämme. Itse keskuskanava eli Fyrisan loi mukavan tunnelman keskustaan. Vanha kaupunki ja vanhoja rakennuksia - sydämeni valtasi ihastus. 

After the action I borrowed a bike from the hotel and drove to the city center with Elin. Trip was not long - about 2 km. The hotel, where we stayed, was actually just outside the city, but not too much. Just a bit away. There are not so many bikers here like in Copenhagen, but their number increased significantly as we approach the city center. The central channel Fyrisan created a comfortable atmosphere in the city center. The old town and the old buildings - my heart fell in love with this place.

Koska päivä oli jo melko pitkällä, päätimme aluksi etsiä ruokapaikan. Päädyimmekin sitten lounaalle Amazing Thai -ravintolaan. Syönnin ohessa puhuimme paljon shelteistä, kasvattamisesta ja sain kuulla Eliniltä hänen kasvattamistaan koirista, niiden suvuista, taustoista. Täytyy sanoa, että tietoa on tällä tytöllä paljon. Hän on todellakin opiskellut rodun, ja tietää siitä todella paljon erilaisia asioita. Olen todella kiitollinen siitä, että pystyin tapaamaan hänet.

It was past midday, so we decided to began to look for place to eat. We ended up for lunch at Amazing Thai restaurant. When we ate we talked about shelties, breeding and I got to hear a lot of new things about dogs which she had bread, of their familytrees and their backgrounds. I have to say that the information this girl has is a lot. She has really studied the breed, and knows a lot of different things about it. I am very grateful of the change to meet her.

Syönnin jälkeen lähdimme kuluttamaan saamamme kalorit. Yliopisto sijaitsee pienen kukkulan päällä, jonne sitten kapusimme. Kävelimme ensin Katedraalille, mutta valitettavasti siellä oli hautajaiset, joten emme voineet jäädä sinne pitkäksi aikaa. Katedraalilta kävelimme päärakennuksen kautta kirjastolle ja linnalle. Linnalta kävelimme alas Joutsenlammelle ja keskustaan. Kävin ostamassa muutaman postikortin turisti-infosta sekä joitakin pieniä tuliaisia, mitä mahduttaisin mukaani pieneen reppuun. Kaupunkikierros oli ihana ja loppumatkasta näinkin niitä perinteisiä ihania ruotsalaisia puutaloja, joten oli siis hyvin onnistunut päivä.

After eating we went to we to consume all those gained calories. The University is located on a small hill, where we then climbed. We walked first to the Cathedral, but unfortunately there was a funeral going, so we could not stay there for long time. From the cathedral we walked to the universitys main building and after that to the library and to the castle. From the castle we walked down to the Swan Lake and to the city center. I went and bought few postcards and stamps from the tourist information center, as well as some small souvenirs, what I could fit with me in my small backpack. City tour was wonderful and on our way back I got to see those wonderful swedish ​traditional wooden houses, so the day was, therefore, a very successful day.

Hotellille päästyäni lähdin sitten pienelle lenkille Lexien kanssa. Nakkelin neidille tulomatkalla tietysti palloakin, josta neiti innostui kuin olisi ollut kotipellolla. Läähätyksen saattelemana palasimme huoneeseemme. Illalla kävin testaamassa vielä hotellin ravintolan. Ravintolasta otin matkaani pienen palasen lohta Lexielle iltapalaan. Tämän päivän päälle neiti oli kyllä sen ansainnut. Oikein onnistunut päivä! Näitä lisää, kiitos ja hyvää yötä.

When I got back to the hotel I went to a small jog with Lexie. I trew a ball to her on our way back, of which she was as excited like she was at the home field. All steam was put out after we returned to our hotel room. In the evening I tested the restaurant at the hotel. From there I took a small piece of fish to Lexie. Because today was so nice I thought that my little lady had certainly deserved it. A very successful day! More days like these, thank you and good night.

Astutusreissu - Päivä 1 / Mating Trip - Day 1

Lähdimme viimein sitten tällekin reissulle. Yritimmehän hankkia kauniille morsiammelle hienoa sulhoa jo puoli vuotta sitten, mutta neiti teki tämän saman viimeksikin eli aloitti kiimansa aikaisemmin kuin piti. Nyt onneksi saimme sovittua uroksen kanssa asiat jo ennakkoon ja vihreä valo palaa.

We left at last to this trip. We did try to do this with this beautiful bride-to-be, but our girl did the same thing last time - started her heat earlier. Now, fortunately, we had agreed things in advance with the owner of our male and the green light is on.

Kävimme aamulla vielä Akuutissa mutkan ja otatimme progetestin. Saisimme näin parhaan tuloksen. Huomenna olisimme kuitenkin esitelleet rakastavaiset toisilleen, joten hyvä tietää, että onko ajankohta oikea liiton sinetöinnille. Verenotto ei sujunut ihan samalla tavalla kuin ensimmäisellä kerralla, mutta selvisimme siitä ilman sen suurempia kolhuja. Huomenna tiedämme, mitä hormonitasot kertovat.

Today we went again to Akuutti and took another progesteron test. This way we could get the best results. We would have however introduced the lovers to each other tomorrow, so it is good to know that whether the timing is correct for the sealing of the union. Taking blood was not that easy as last time, but we made it without any big traumas. Tomorrow we'll know what the hormone levels will tell.

Pakattuani kaikki tavarat mukaani hyppäsimme autoon ja lähdimme ajamaan kohti Lindaa. Kävimme hakemassa häneltä lentolaukun, jota hän on käyttänyt. Itse en sellaista ole vielä hankkinut, joten ajattelin testata, kannattaisiko tuollainen hankkia. Lisäksi pääsin hypistelemään hänen uusia pikkupentujaan. Ihania palleroita ne olivatkin. Hyökkäsivät heti kimppuun, kun istahdin alas pentulaan. Lindalla joimme kahvit ja otimme vastaan ohjeistukset astutusta varten. Lisäksi porisimme viikon päästä pidettävästä agilityleiristä. 

After packing all the things we jumped in the car and started to drive towards Linda. We went there to get a flight bag, which she had used earlier. In fact, I don't have one, so I thought I could test drive this before purchasing one for myself. In addition, I was able to see her new little puppies. Lovely toddlers they were. All of them attacked immediately when I sat down in the pen. After that we drank a cup of coffee and went through things which I had to keep in mind in the mating. In addition, we talked about the agility camp on next weekend. 

Lindalta Petri vei minut sitten viimein Luleån lentokentälle ja check-iniin. Olihan se jännää, mutta jotenkin ko. lentokentästä tuli Oulu mieleen. Samankokoinen kenttä ja samanlainenkin osin. Lensimme Arlandaan Norwegianilla, joten kävimme tiskillä näyttämässä, että meillä on koira ja se tulee sisälle matkustamoon. Saimme siten paikkamme - 31 F - eli ihan koneen perältä, viimeisestä rivistä ja ikkunapaikkakin. Ihan mukava, koska pääsimme sisälle sitten takaportista, joten ei tarvinnut kävellä koko konetta lävitse. 

Next Petri took me finally to Luleå airport and to the check-in. It was very exciting, but somehow the place was like Oulu City airport. The airfield was about the same size. We flew to Arlanda with Norwegian, so we went to the counter to show that we have a dog and it comes into the passenger area. We got to our place - 31 F - so it was in the back of the plane, and on the last row and on the window seat. Quite nice, because we got inside the plane via backdoor, so there was no need to walk through the entire plane.

Kone oli ihan täynnä. Vapaita paikkoja ei juurikaan ollut. Lentolaukku sujahti nätisti edessä olleen tuolin alle, ja pystyimme rauhoittumaan hetkeksi. Pian vieruspaikkammekin vietiin eli viereemme tuli istumaan kaksi ruotsalaista miestä. Keskellä istunut mies ihmetteli, että mitä minä teen, kun rapsuttelin toisella kädellä Lexiä ja yritin neitiä rauhoitella. Sitten hän huomasikin, että siellähän oli koira. 

The plane was pretty full. No too many empty seats. My flight bag slipped nicely under the chair in front of me and we were able calm down for a while. Soon seats beside me were taken by two Swedish man. First the man in the middle wondered, what I did, when I was scratching Lexie with my other hand. Then he realized that there was a little dog of which I was just calming down.

Lento meni mukavasti. Lexie ei päästänyt inaustakaan. Syliin oli tosin halu noustessa ja laskiessa, mutta valitettavasti sylipaikkoja ei ollut tarjolla. Rapsuttelin Lexietä nousussa ja laskussa, ja hän rauhoittui helposti. Vierustoverikin kehui kovasti, että olipa reipas koira. Kun odottelimme vuoroamme päästä koneesta pois, edessä istunut mies kuuli minun ilmeisesti puhuvan Lexielle suomeksi. Hän sitten alkoi puhua minulle, että: "Sinullako oli koira siellä? En edes huomannut." Itsekseni naureskelin, että hyvä tyttö...

The flight went nicely. Lexie did not let a sound out of her. She wanted to jump on my lap when the plane lift off and landed, but unfortunately there were no lap seats available. I scratched Lexie during the lift off and landing, and she calmed down easily. The man next to me praised her very much - she is a very well-behaving dog. While I was waiting for our turn to get out of the plane, a man in front of me apparently heard me speak Finnish to Lexie. He then began to talk to me in Finnish and said: "You had had a dog in there? Did not even notice." Inside myself I laughed - what a good girl ...

Arlandan lentokentästä tuli mieleen Helsinki, koska siinä oli myös hirveästi samaa näköä. Ulos pääsimme helposti. Opasteet olivat hyvät joka paikassa. Alakerran aulassa olikin Elin sitten vastassa jo. Hän tunnisti minut ja minä hänet helposti. Ilmeisesti olin tarpeeksi eksyksissä tunnistettavaksi tai sitten koiralaukku paljasti minut. Elin tuli hakemaan minut lentokentältä ja vei meidät Lidlin kautta hotellillemme. Sain iltapalan ostettua ja jotakin juotavaa. 

Helsinki popped up to my mind when I looked around Arlanda Airport, it had much of the same appearance. Check-out was easily found. The signs were good in every place. Downstairs in the lobby Elin was waiting us already. She recognized me, and I saw her easily. Apparently, I looked enough disoriented to be detected or the dog bag revealed me. Elin came to pick me up from the airport and took me via Lidl to our hotel. I got myself some snack for the evening and something to drink. 

Hotellilla meidät otettiin hyvin vastaan. Aulan poika oli kiva ja kertoi kaiken, mitä tarvitsin. Koska huoneemme oli jo maksettu, meillä ei ollut mitään ongelmia. Lisäksi hotelli antoi Lexielle huovan ja ruokakupin tervetulotoivotuksena. Oikein hyvä koirahotelli siis. Annettuani Lexielle ruoan kävimme vielä pyörähtämässä ulkona iltatarpeilla. 

The hotel took us in open handedly. In the lobby there was a nice guy serving and told me everything I needed to know about the hotel and my stay. Since our room had already been paid, we did not have any problems. In addition, the hotel gave Lexie a blanket and a cup of food as a welcome. Very good hotel for dogs this is then. After giving evening food to Lexie, we went for a little stroll out to do our needs.

Ilta laskeutui kauniisti Uppsalan ylle ja me vetäydyimme huoneeseemme. Nyt yöunille ja huomenna uusia seikkailuja kohti.

Evening came down nicely upon Uppsala, and we retired to our hotel room. Now to good night's sleep and in the morning towards new adventures.

Vaikka on syksy, on kevättä rinnassa - Even though it's autumn time, we have springtime in our minds

Niin se vain menee, vaikka on syksy, keväiset asiat pyörivät mielessä. Isoin uutinenhan on, että Lexie päätti aloittaa juoksunsa nyt - kuukautta aikaisemmin kuin olisi pitänyt. Onneksi olin varautunut hieman tähän, mutta isona yllärinä se läpsähti naamaa vasten. Kaikki järjestelyt piti sitten saattaa loppuun vauhdilla.

That's how it goes, even though it is autumn, the springtime occupies my mind. The biggest thing is that Lexie decided to start her heat now - a month earlier than she should have. Fortunately, I was prepared for this a little bit, but it truly hit me hard without any warning. All arrangements had to complete with haste.


Agilitystä - Agility

Agilityä olemme normaaliin tapaan harjoitelleet sunnuntaisin ja maanantaisin. Viivin kanssa menemme jo kuin unelma (tai ainakin minä ajattelen niin). Keppien nurja puoli on edelleen vielä treenattava kuntoon, mutta muuten meillä luistaa asiat hyvin. Lexien kanssa kontaktit menivät hukkaan viime hallikaudella, joten ehkäpä tämä tauko tekee nyt hyvää, että unohdamme ne kokemuksemme kauheuksineen ja pääsemme eteenpäin harrastuksessamme pentujen jälkeen. Lähdemmehän me ensi kuussa taas perinteiselle agilityleirille Ruotsiin. Nyt Viivikin pääsee mukaan, vaikkakin Lexie vain treenaa ohjatusti. Tosin olen pienten lintujen kuullut laulavan, että Petrikin ehkä innostuisi agilityä kokeilemaan siellä, jos hyvä opettaja löytyy.

We have been training as usual on Sundays and Mondays. Viivi runs the track like a dream (or at least I think so). Wrong side of the sticks still will remains as our weak spot, but everything else goes pretty well. With Lexie we sing a different song. The contacts are our weak spots because of those flyings from swing, so maybe this break is now doing good. We forget the horrors she experienced, and we can move forward in our hobby after puppies. We are still going to the traditional agility camp in Sweden. Now Viivi can come too, though Lexie only trains under trainer. However, I have heard the small birds sing, that Petri might be wanting to try out agility out there, if he has a good teacher.

Agilitykisojakin olemme harrastaneet muutaman kerran. Kävimme Viivin kanssa yrittämässä viimeistä luvaamme Keminmaalla ja nyt viime viikonloppuna Oulussa. Keminmaalla vaikeudeksi osoittautuivat korkeat hypyt - 40 ja 45 cm - ja pelottavat esteet. OKK:n kisoissa Viivi oli ensimmäisellä radalla ihan hästänä ja toisella tyrin itse ne hommat. Luokkanousu siis odottelee vielä. Olen tosin optimisti, joten kyllä me sertiä saamme vielä juhlia eli nousua kakkosluokkaan.

We have been in agility races with Viivi few times. We went to Kemi and to Oulu to race a bit and try to get our last remaining 0 and ticket to 2nd class. Kemi was the land difficulty and due the high jumps - 40 and 45 cm - and frightening obstacles we were unable to finish. The evidence you can see below. At Oulu on the first track Viivi had no ears and the second track I decided to stop Viivi to do the track the right way. Therefore we are still waiting. I am an optimist though, so yes, we will celebrate the rise to 2nd class sooner or later. 

Muuta mukavaa - Something else 

Kuumin juttuhan meidän kennelissämme on nyt Lexien ensimmäinen pentue ja sen järjestelyt. Nyt tuli niiden kanssa hieman kiire, mutta onneksi ehdimme hoitaa kaiken kuntoon. Aluksi meinasi hieman hengästyttää ja olin aiheissa peruakin koko homman, mutta sitten päätin, että ei mitään. Kyllä me saadaan tämä hoidettua kuntoon. Astinkumppaniksemme olemme valinneet kasvattajamme Lindan avustuksella Vindin eli Eastflash Glamourous Blue Linen. Merleä hakiessamme törmäsimme tähän komistukseen, ja tästä pojasta löysimme mielestämme komean sulhasen Lexielle ja kennelimme ensimmäiselle pentueelle.

The hottest thing in our kennel is now Lexie's first litter and its arrangements. Now we got a little bit busy with it, but luckily we had time take care of everything in order. At first, I almost canceled all, but then I decided that, not this way. Yes, we get it done right. For the male we have chosen with Linda's little help Vind (Eastflash Glamourous Blue Line). We were seeking for a merle and this one we came across with, and we think we found a handsome groom and father to our first litter in kennel Elentarion.

Kävimme tänään Akuutissa progesteronitestissä aamusta, jonka tulokset saamme huomenna puolipäivään mennessä. Iltapäivällä kävimme sitten tarkistuttamassa silmät ja sydämen kantoaikaa ja synnytystä varten. Samalla otimme varorotuksena herpesrokotteenkin, että kaikki mahdolliset haittapuolet olisi karsittu mahdollisimman vähäksi. Nyt siis odottelemme tuloksia ja sitä, milloin starttaan kohti Tukholmaa.

Today we went and took progesteron test at Akuutti this morning. The results we have tomorrow. In the afternoon, we went to Akuutti again and checked up her eyes and heart, before mating and carrying time. At the same time we took the herpes vaccination, to minize all harm that may come or not. So now we are waiting for the results and when to start our trip to Stockholm.

Lenkillä ajateltua - Thoughts while jogging

Tuossa eräänä päivänä kävelin tyttöjen kanssa metsässä. Neidit ovat aina metsässä irti ja ravaavat omia polkujaan, mutta näköetäisyydellä. Vastaan tuli mies pyörän selässä. Kutsuin tytöt vierelle ja istutin ne maahan ja annoin "ohi"-käskyn. Tytöt seurasivat katseellaan miestä pyörän selässä. Mies tokaisi siinä sitten minulle: "Noinko hyvin olet koirasi kouluttanut?" Katsoin sitä miestä ja sanoin, että: "Pitäähän sitä osata koiransa pitää kurissa."

The other day, I was walking with the girls in the woods. My girls are always free out in the woods and they run on their own, but at the seeing distance. We met a man on the bike. I called my girls to my side, and I told them to sit in the ground and gave them the "pass" command. My girls followed the man with their eyes. Then the man blurted out to me: "Is that how well you have trained your dogs?" I looked at the man and said that: "Surely one has know how to keep their dogs under control."

Tuosta poikikin ajatus sitten muihin huomioihin, mitä olen lenkillä huomannut. Mitkä ovat koiranomistajan yleisimmät virheet? - From that I thought of an idea then to my other considerations, which I have noticed while jogging. What are the most common mistakes a dog owner can do?

Potki vaikka puuta tai muuta, mutta älä kurita koiraa. Vika on aina ohjaajassa eli ihmisessä siinä hihnan toisessa päässä. Tunne koirasi ja kitke sen pahat tavat koulutuksella, ei potkimalla. - Excessive use of force. After all, it is good to show one's might and power through a small creature, but it is not right. 3. Karkailusta palkinto kurituksella. Tämänkin huomasin tuossa eräänä päivänä lenkillä. Kävelimme tyttöjen kanssa perinteistä reittiämme Haapamaalla, kun erään talon pihalta karkasi pieni pitkäkarvainen mäyräkoira kohti meitä. Pihalla huutaa hyvin vihaisena sitten ihminen koiralleen ja käskee koiraa palaamaan takaisin. Koira katsoo meitä ja katsoo omistajaansa. Agilityä Torniossa 3.8.2013

Lauantaina 3.8. lähdimme Viivin kanssa kisaamaan Tornion Koirakerho ry:n järjestämiin agilitykisoihin. Ilmoittauduimme kolmeen lähtöön 1. luokassa. Tuomarimme oli Jarmo Jämsä. Mukaamme lähti kaverimme Suvi Ylisaari koiransa Taiston kanssa.

Kun auto aamulla starttasi kohti pohjoista, mielessämme oli kaikenlaista ja etenkin jännitystä. Tarinoita olin kuullut tämän tuomarin radoista. Osa sanoi, että hirveän vaikeita, osa sanoi, että helppoja ja loput sanoivat, että mielenkiintoisia. Lähde sitten noilla tiedoilla kisaamaan. Kempeleessä aamu oli sumuinen ja usvainen, mutta saavuttuamme Tornioon taivas oli pilvetön ja kisapaikka oli osin tukahduttavan kuuma. Onneksi otimme mukaan sontikan, että saimme koiriemme häkit varjoon sekä paljon vettä juotavaksi.

Kilpailimme nrolla 12 ja luokkamme oli medi 1. Päivän saldo oli seuraava: 1. sija ja luva, 2, sija ja 10 ja lopuksi hylätty.

Niinhän siinä kävi, että päivää eteenpäin mentäessä ilmeisesti ohjaajan kunto laski helteessä niin paljon, että kaksi ensimmäistä rataa meni ihan hyvin, mutta se viimeinen oli sitten varsinainen plörinä. Elämä on, mutta saavutimmepahan sen, mitä haimme, jo heti ensimmäisellä radalla. Seuraavana viikonloppuna olemme menossa Keminmaalle ja toivottavasti saamme ottaa jo sertikuvia!
