Kesä tekee todella tuloaan. Ilmat ovat lämmenneet, ulkona ei tarvitse enää montaa kerrosta vaatetusta ja hanskatkin saa jättää kotiin (Viivi rakastaa sitä, koska tietää, että nyt on helpompi antaa niitä nakkeja eli koulutuskuukaudet alkavat). Ihanaa aikaa siis tämä alkukevät, kun vielä ei ole niitä verenimijöitä liikenteessä. Lisäksi koirat ovat nauttineet aivan valtavasti siitä, kun ns. "polut ovat auenneet" eli saa juosta muuallakin ja ei uppoa sinne hankeen. Mona etenkin on ottanut siinä vetovastuun ja pienillä näteillä loikkalaukoillaan vetää aina porukkamme mukaan ihmeelliseen mätäsmaailmaan. "Kuka saa minut kiinni, katsotaan!" You have to agree, that summer is really coming. The weather has warmed, you don't have to wear outdoors many layers of clothing and even the gloves you can leave at home (Viivi loves it, because she knows that it is now much easier to get those treats and there will be training on the jogs). So this time of early spring is wonderful time, when there is none of those bloodsuckers around yet. In addition, dogs have enjoyed enormously from this so-called "Paths are open" season, when you can run around freely and there is no fear of sinking in the snow. Mona particularly, has taken the lead with her long legs and taken our little gang on nice runs, off-road of course. "Who can catch me, let's see!!" Lexie just says to that: "These tail hairs of yours taste nasty."

Kilpailukuulumisia

Jälkikasvusta on aina ihana lähteä liikkeelle. Himppunen on niin ollut ylpeyteni aihe viime aikoina. Erika ja Lauri ovat pitäneet tästä neitokaisesta huolta uskomattomalla tavalla. Himppuahan ei tietystikään voi olla rakastamatta, ja neidolle ei voi olla antamatta kaikkea sitä hellyyttä, mitä Himppu kaipaa. Nolla-jahti on aloitettu ja toivottavasti pian saamme syödä luokkanousukakkuset.

Telling nice tales of the offspring is always a wonderful way to start. I am so proud of our little Himppunen. Erika and Lauri have taken care of this young lady in an incredible way. Himppua of course, can not but love, and you have to give her all the affection, what she needs. Himppu and Erika has starten their zero race and hopefully we will soon eat a class rise cakes.

Agilityssä Himppu ja Erika ovat vauhdilla edenneet eteenpäin. Tosin tässä näkee kaiken sen työn, mitä tämä parivaljakko on tehnyt harrastuksen eteen. Toisaalta on ilo katsoa sitä vauhtia, mikä sillä neidolla on. Ilmeisesti tuulisen miehen jälki näkyy jälkikasvussa eli kiitos Vind vauhtigeeneistä. Samaa on myös kaikissa Alfa-pentueemme pennuissa - Galassa, Arwenissa ja Velhossa.

In agility Himppu and Erika are rapidly made progress. However, in this progress we see all the hard work, what this duo has done. On the other hand it is a pleasure to look at the speed with which Himppu has. Apparently, windy man has gives his best speed genes to this lot, so thanks to Vind of this pace. The same is also with all Alfa-litter puppies - Gala, Arwen and Velho.

Kävimme Galan kanssa kokeilemassa OKK:n epävirallisissa agilitykisoissa menoamme. Sitä menoahan neidissä on, ja paljon. Valitettavasti emännän jalat eivät ole tarpeeksi nopeat, että pysyisin perässä. Radalla ei tarvita kuin yksi pieni herpaannus ohjauksessa ja se on menoa. Näin meille sitten kävi - 90 + virhettä. Olihan katsojilla hauskaa! Me emme luovuttaneet ja tulleet radalta pois.

I tried an unofficial agility competition with Gala. There is lots of speed in this girl. Unfortunately, my legs are too slow, so that I could keep up with her. When we are on the track, we need just one distraction and all goes to hell. That is what happened and the result was 90+ points. After all, viewers had lots of fun! We didn't give up. 

Viivi ja Petri kalastelevat myös viimeistä nollaansa 2. luokasta. Heillä nousu ja kehitys on ollut loistavaa. On ollut ihana seurata miestä ja hänen innostustaan lajiin. Koira on loistava ja toisaalta miehellä on treenattavana toinen loistava koira eli Arwen. Siellä on vauhtia ja vaarallisia tilanteita tulossa, mutta Arwen on Galaan verrattaen huomattavasti helpompi tapaus eli adhd puuttuu.

Viivi and Petri are now fishing their last zero in the 2nd class. They have development a lot this winter again. It's been wonderful to follow a man and his enthusiasm for the sport. The dog is brilliant, and on the other hand man has another great dog, Arwen, on the training track too. There is speed and dangerous situations coming, but when you compare Arwen to Gala, she is much easier case - ADHD is missing.

Lexien kanssa olemme myös kehittyneet kovasti eteenpäin. Ennen talvea ongelmamme oli kepit ja keinu ja yleensäkin kontaktit. Lähdimme sitten treenaamaan niitä tosissamme. Kiitos ihanalle ohjaajallemme Tiina Sauvolalle kovasta työstä kanssamme. Nyt kepit menevät ilman ohjureita ja keinulle uskallamme nousta jo omalla tavallamme. Se oli ilo huomata epävirallisissa kisoissa, vaikka lelun tippumisen takia saimme hylätyn suorituksen.

With Lexie, we have also developed much further. Before winter we were struggling with the swing and with the poles. We wanted to train those a lot. Thank you for our wonderful instructor Tiina Sauvola of all the hard work she did with us. Now we do poles without guides and the seesaw we dare to do on our own style. It was a pleasure to note in that unofficial agility competition, although due to the drop of the toy we got disqualified.

Samoissa kisoissa pääsimme Sarin kuvattavaksi. Sari oli pystyttänyt kokeilumielessä esteen ja kuvauspisteen erääseen nurkkaan hallia. Siellä sai käydä kokeilemassa vauhtikuvaa koirastaan. Kävimme tietysti kokeilemassa tyttöjemme kanssa siellä, ja tulos (kuten aina Sarin kanssa) oli loistava. Ainoina kokeilimme parihyppyä. Tämä piti tilata kotiin kopioksikin. At the Animagi Areena there were a place where you could take a agility style photoes. Our friend Sari had set up an experimental photobooth with an obstacle, flashes on the both side of it and a camera pointing up to the obstacle. Anyone was able to go there and try it out with Sari. We did it too with our both girls - Viivi ja Lexie, and I must say that the result (as always with Sari) was fantastic. We were the only ones who tried a duojump. Kennelkuulumisia

Punkeista on varoiteltu paljon ja niitä olemmekin seurailleet tehokkaasti. Valitettavasti tämä ei riittänytkään, jonka huomasin tässä alkuviikosta. Meidän laumastamme Lexie on aina ollut innostuessaan aivastelija. Maanantaina olimme lähdössä lenkille ja tytöthän innostuvat siitä aina. Lexie pärski normaaliin tapaan, mutta samaan kuoroon liittyivät myös Arwen ja Gala. Silloin ihmettelin, että mikä nuha meille on tullut. Aluksi mietin, että viikonloppu oli ollut kuuma ja kuiva eli ilma oli todella pölyinen ja tunkkainen kaikkialla. Sama jatkui sitten tiistaina, mutta illalla alkoivat myös röhinät. Lexie aloitti sen ensin, sitten Gala ja myös Arwen. Tämä vahvisti epäilyni - nenäpunkkitartunta. Keskiviikkona soitinkin eläinlääkärille, ja puhelinkonsultaation kautta saimme nenäpunkkilääkkeet suoraan lähiapteekkiimme - koko laumalle. The season of ticks has started and we have been keeping our eyes open. Unfortunately, this was not enough, which I noticed in the beginning of this week. Our Lexie has always sneezed when she gets excited. On Monday we were getting ready for a run and our girls always get really excited. Lexie made sneezes in the normal way, but at the same time Arwen and Gala started to do it too. Then I wondered, that do they have some common cold or what. At first, I wondered, that the weekend had been hot and dry, so the weather outside was really dusty and musty everywhere. The same thing then continued on Tuesday, but in the evening they started to do those swine kind of oink oink's. Lexie started it first, then Gala and also Arwen. This confirmed my suspicion - nose tick infection. On Wednesday, I called to veterinarian, and we did a phone consultation about those nose ticks. After the call we god a subscription directly to our nearest pharmacy - for the whole gang. In these cases you can not medicate just one, but at the same time you have to care the entire herd. In addition, we are going to wash all the bunks and platforms. In addition to the cages and all those will get power disinfection treatment. The course of medication will last four weeks, so bye-bye to all our hobbies. We cannot go to a match show or to an agility competitions. We want to think about the others. Our medication is MILBEMAX Vet. We eat one tablet / week / dog. I hope this is an effective drug.

Asiointi oli hauskaa niin eläinlääkärin kuin sitten apteekkarienkin kanssa. Eläinlääkäri lupasi lääkkeet torstaina apteekkiin. Tästä piti tulla ilmoitus tekstiviestinä. On the other hand it was fun to talk with the veterinarian and with the pharmacists. The vet promised medicines for Thursday. He would call to the pharmacy. They would inform me about that with a message. I had not received it on Thursday at 16 o'clock, so I decided to phone to the vet. At first, the woman in the reception was a little skeptical, and did not remember our case. Then, when I used the keyword "Sheltie" the womand immediately said: "Oh yeah, that sheltie heard - medicines for all." Subsequently, I received confirmation that it had been delivered to the nearby pharmacy. Since Kempele has two pharmacies - center and Zeppelin, I had to call to both of them, whether our prescription was there. I had it right with the first call, but also there the woman at reception was a bit skeptical at first, while I used the keyword "Sheltie". This woman also said immediately: "Oh yeah! The herd of five dogs. Yes, the recipe is here." When we went to pick it up on Thursday afternoon from the pharmacy, even then our dog family was a special thing. "We don't have enough of those medicines in stock. If we give this first batch now, and then you can come and pick up the rest next week? You had such a big number of these dogs."

Nyt olemme siis tauolla 4 viikkoa. Katsotaan juhannukselta tai oikeastaan varmaan juhannuksen alta sitten treenejä. Sen aikaa teemme siis vain kotitreenausta omalla alueellamme. Kesäloma alkaakin 3. kesäkuuta, joten minulla ei ole muuta kuin aikaa.

Now we are on a break for 4 weeks. Let's try it out near the midsummer or actually probably before it, and think about rehearsing. Before it, therefore, we only do home training in our own area. Summer vacation starts on June 3, so I have all the time I need.

Pidimme myös pienen arkitrimmauskurssin kasvattiemme omistajille eli Erikalle. Sai muutkin tulla, mutta osanotto oli harmillisen vähäistä. Saatiin käytyä läpi, miten leikataan koiralta tassukarvat ja korvakarvat. Miten hoidetaan tassut ja muut. Erika otti ihan tosissaan treenin ja oli kyllä loistava oppilas.

We also kept a small trimming lesson for our puppy owners - in other words for Erika, because she was only one who attended. There I showed how to trim ears and paws correctly for basic needs. Erika took lessons seriously and was certainly a brilliant student. 

Syksyä, kynttilänvaloa ja koirankarvaviltti

Huomasin tässä eräs päivä, että: "HYI HENNA! Et ole päivittänyt blogia pitkään aikaan!" Tekevällä valitettavasti aika on tiukalla ja näin blogi on joutunut kärsimään. Anteeksi rakas, en tee sitä uudelleen.

I noticed the other day, that: "BAD HENNA! You have not updated the blog for a long time!" Unfortunately for people, who mostly do, time is tight, and this blog has suffered of it. I'm sorry dear, I won't do it again.

Syksy on siis ollut hyvin täynnä kaikkea mahdollista. Kun agikisoissa kävimme syyskuussa, jäimme sitten hieman tauolle kaikesta. Opettajan työ ei ole helppoa ja kotihommia on pitänyt tehdä enemmän kuin aikaisemmin. Tästä tulisi kai kiittää VR:ää ja erästä pientä kovalevyä, joka päätti tehdä elämästäni aika hankalan. Onneksi niistäkin on päästy ylitse eli töitä on tehty, että on saatu hommat uudelleen kasaan. Hieman huono alku siis syksylle. Toisaalta myös eräs siviilielämän työ on vienyt aikaa aika paljon tältä muulta kirjoittamiselta. Onneksi sekin on kohta ohitse ja pääsee nauttimaan siitä hedelmästä.

Autumn has been, therefore, very full. After we went to agility competition in September, we took a little break from everything. A teacher's work is not easy and I have done homework more than in the past. Of this I should probably thank VR and my small hard drive, which decided to make my life pretty difficult. Fortunately, that is now the past and all the work has been done, things are getting back together. A little bad start for Autumn? On the other hand, I have been working a one little work at home, which has taken quite a lot of time out of this kind of typing. Fortunately, too, it is soon past and one gets to enjoy the fruit.

Lexie

Lexien kanssa kävimme tosiaan siellä jalostustarkissa ja nyt on kova miehenmetsästys päällä. Josko keväällä/kesällä/loppukesästä saisimme iloisia uutisia tähän taloon? Riippuu neidin juoksuhaluista ja tietysti urosvalinnasta. Hakusessa on soopeliuros, jolla olisi mahdollisimman erinomainen etuosa ja rakenne siellä. Lisäksi muutenkin terveys ja linjasto pitää olla top-luokkaa. Tarkoitushan olisi, että jätämme siitä pentueesta yhden mahdollisesti itsellemme, joten huippukoiraa me rakennamme. Katsotaan onnistuuko eli saako kennel Elentarion ensimmäisen pesueensa aikaa ensi vuonna?

With Lexie we went to that breeding exam in september and now we are hunting a nice male for her. Wondering if in the spring / summer / late summer we could get good news from this house? Depends on the runs and, of course, male choice. We are seeking for a sable male, which has the best front structure there can be. In addition, health and the breeding lanes have to be top-class. Ii is supposed to be, that we leave one puppy of that litter at home, so we are building a top dog. So let's wait and see, if kennel Elentarion will get its first litter next year?

Kävimme Lexien kanssa myös trimmauskurssilla lokakuussa. Opimme paljon uusia asioita, joita emme ole tulleet edes ajatelleeksi. Toisaalta, kiitos Lindan, tiesinkin muutaman erinomaisen hyvän taidon jo, joten  oli hyvä saada varmistus noillekin taidoille. Tuli sitten hankittua eräs erinomainen metallipiikkiharja ilman nuppeja, jolla olen päässyt todella hyviin tuloksiin. Se on suorastaan ihana väline nyt karvanlähdön aikaan.

I took Lexie to a grooming class in October. We learned a lot of new things that we did not even know. On the other hand, thanks to Linda, I knew a few excellent good grooming tips already, so it was good to have a backup for those skills. Then I acquired one of the greatest metal tip brushes and with it I have had really good results. It is a wonderful hair tool now when coat is changing.

  

Lokakuun lopulla kävimme syyslomareissulla Karigasniemessä ihan vain yhden koirakaverin kanssa. Viivi hoiteli nimittäin vieläkin silloin pentuaan Sisua, joten emme saaneet neitiä mukaamme reissulle. Oli vielä turhan aikaista erottaa emo pennustaan. Lexien ei kuitenkaan tarvinnut olla yksin reissullaan, koska anoppilassa neiti pääsi tutustumaan talon uuteen asukkiin Nellaan. Nella olikin aluksi ihmeellinen intoilija, joka koko ajan yritti pentuleikkiä Lexien kanssa. Lexie esitti jonkin aikaa isoa neitiä, että minä en tuollaisten pikkutyttöjen kanssa leiki, mutta loppujen lopuksi, kun molemmat oppivat toistensa rajat eli Lexie on pienempi ja sirompi, leikki onnistui. Kävelimme reissun aikana noin 20 km, kun vaeltelimme läheisellä Kevolla ja Ailigastunturilla. Lexie pääsi nauttimaan siis tunturi-ilmastosta samoin kuin omistajansakin.

We went for an autumn holiday trip to Karigasniemi at the end of October with just one dog. Viivi was still taking care of puppy Sisu, so we went there with Lexie only. It was still too early to part the parent of its cub. Lexie didn't have to be alone there, because mother-in-law had gotten a dog. Nella was initially a wonderful doggie who always tried to play like a puppy with Lexie. Lexie tried to play a big girl for some time, thinking "I will not play with a such little girl", but in the end, when both learned to play together ie Lexie was smaller and lighter, the playing went nicely. We walked in during the trip of about 20 km. We wandered in the nearby Kevo National Park and at Ailigas fell. Lexie got to enjoy the mountains, the climate, therefore, as well as its owner.

Syksyllä aloitimme myös hieronnan Lexielle eli Eevaliisa Takalahti on käynyt hieromassa Lexietä kuukauden välein. Tämä on ollut hyvä, koska Lexie oli hieman lukossa. Toisaalta agilitykin on aina oma rasituksensa, joten senkin takia on hyvä, että neiti saa hoitoa. Hieronnasta onkin siten nautittu kovasti.

In the autumn we started to give massage to Lexie. The massage was given by Eevaliisa Takalahti. Lexie needs a massage, because Lexie has been very tight from behind. On the other hand agility is always on of those burdens, after which it is good that the girl is being treated. Lexie enjoys the massage very much.

Viivi

Karigasniemen reissun jälkeen Maarit eli Viivin kasvattaja soitteli, että Viivi olisi valmis tulemaan kotiin. Oli kuulemma alkanut jo pentusen hoitaminen riittämään. Kävimme hakemassa Viivin kotiin. Kun Viivi pääsi etuovesta sisälle, Lexie ja Viivi aloittivat heti haistelun. Viivi kävi tietysti paikat lävitse, koska meillä oli tullut uusia kalusteita kotiin ja järjestys siten muuttunut. Kierroksen jälkeen neiti tarkasti takapihan alueen ja tutustui sielläkin uusiin asioihin eli kiviin ja marjapensaisiin. Tämän jälkeen Viivi hyppäsi lempinojatuolilleen ja nukkui vuorokauden läpeensä käyden välillä syömässä. Äitinä oleminen oli siis ollut aika raskasta.

After the trip to Karigasniemi Maarit the breeder of Viivi phoned to me that Viivi would be ready to come home. She was reportedly already begun to dislike taking care of Sisu. We went and took Viivi home. When Viivi got inside the front door, Lexie and Viivi immediately started sniffing. Viivi went through our apartment, of course, because we had new furniture at home and thus the order of things had changed. After the tour, our little mommy wanted to check the backyard area and got to know new things there, too, the rocks and berry bushes. After this, Viivi jumped on her favorite armchair and slept a day. She rise only to eat her food. Being a mother, had, therefore, been quite a hard work.

Minä olin nyt onnellinen, että molemmat rakkaani olivat turvallisesti saman katon alla. Seuraavan päivän lenkillähän ilo Viivillä irtosikin eli neiti revitteli menemään kuin vanha tekijä. Toisaalta eleet olivat sellaisia, että kuin Viivi ei olisi koskaan ollut poiskaan. Vauhtia ja vaarallisia tilanteita riitti, kun Lexien kanssa sai juosta ja haukkua sydämensä kyllyydestä. Oli ihana seurata tuota menoa.

I was so happy now that both of my lovely dogs were safely under the same roof. The next day we went for a jog and there you saw the pleasure on Viivi's face when she ran around like a pro. On the other hand gestures were such that Viivi had never been away at all. There were speed ​​and dangerous rite of passages, as she ran with Lexie around the forrest and barked at their heart's content. It was wonderful to follow them both.

Kotiutumisen kunniaksi aloitimme hieronnan Viivillekin. Viivi oli nimittäin niin jumissa synnytyksen ja hoitoajan jälkeen, että en ole koskaan nähnyt koiraa noin jumissa. In honor of discharge from breeder's home, we started to give a massage to Viivi too. Viivi was in fact so stuck because of birth and baby care. However, she was stuck evenly all over, so there were not a single limp or anything of that sort. The worst parts were taken care of and massage therapy should be continued for at least the end of this year, maybe even further.

Koska Viivi jouduttiin keisarileikkaamaan synnytyksessä, käymme ihan varalta tässä ennen joulua eläinlääkärissä katsomassa, että kaikki neidissä on kohdallaan eli mitään ei ole jäänyt huomaamatta. Haluan, että neiti on täydellisesti kunnossa ennen agikilpailuja.

Since Viivi had to be cut in childbirth, in this case we are going to take her before Christmas to the vet to see that everything is in place and we have not unnoticed anything. I want our lady to bee in perfect fit before agility competitions.

Muuta koiranelämää

Muuten arkemme on ollut aika rutinoitua. Tietysti olemme aina silloin tällöin saaneet myös hyvää lenkkiseuraa naapurin Sarista ja hänen koiristaan. Lenkeillä on saaneet molemmat tytöt telmiä kavereiden kanssa, joten sekin on ollut neideille nautintoa.

Otherwise, the daily lives has been very quiet. Of course, every now and then, we have also received a good jog partner of Sari and her dogs. On walks both girls have been running around with their new friends, so it has been a pleasure for my girls.

Olen myös tekemässä Viiville ja Lexielle hieman talvea vasten varusteita, joilla selviämme talvesta lämpimänä. Löysin viimein kotoa nuo matskut ja kaavat koiran lämpömantteliin. Teen sitten sellaiset. Tietystihän voisi mennä kauppaan ja ostaa loimet, mutta ei ihan viitsisi tuohon kangasmäärään katsoen hankkia tuplasti tai triplasti metrihinnaltaan kalliimpia loimia. Joululahjoiksi tosin otetaan vastaan, jos joku haluaa sellaiset hankkia. Teon alla ovat nimittäin Back on Track -tyyppiset loimet. Tarkoitus niillä olisi pitää koira lämpimänä ja kuivana harjoitusten väliajoilla.

I'm also doing some the winter gear for Viivi and Lexie against the coldness of winter. I found those things at last (material and formula) for heating coat for dog. I shall now make those.
