OULU KV - Iloisen koiran näyttely 13.8.2016

Viime viikonloppuna kävimme pitkästä aikaa näyttelyssä. Suunnittelin jo kesän alussa, että kävisimme ainakin yhdessä näyttelyssä koko porukalla. Tarkoituksena hakea harraste-H:t Arwenille ja Galalle ja tietysti kokeilla Monan ja Lexien kanssa, josko ERI-polku aukeaisi. Viime kerroilla oli aika haastavaa. / Last weekend it was a show time. I planned in the beginning of this summer that we will attend in one show with the whole group. Arwen and Gala needs those hobby-H's for agility, and of course I have to try to get ERI with Mona and Lexie, if our ERI path could open up. Recently it has been quite challenging.

Oulu KV eli Iloisen koiran näyttely järjestettiin Oulun Äimäraution raviradalla. Olin edellisenä iltana ollut pystyttämässä kehiä ja purkamassa palkintoja. Näyttelyn tekivät paikalliset koirayhdistykset yhdessä, joten senkin takia oli tärkeää mennä maksamaan kannatusmaksu. / Oulu INT aka Joyful Dog's show was held in Oulu Äimärautio racetrack. The previous night I had been there putting it together and dismantling prize boxes. The show is made with local dog associations together, so it was important to go and attend to it.

Lauantaiaamu aukesi kauniisti vesisateisena ja synkkänä. Tiesin, että tästä ei tule kyllä kesää, mutta sinne me suuntasimme Petrin kanssa ja mietimme, onko tässä järkeä. Uutiset Shetlanninlammaskoirien erikoisnäyttelystä Helsingistä olivat samanmoiset. Vesisade oli molemmissa läsnä ja vahvasti. Saavuimme näyttelypaikalle melko hyvissä ajoin ja haimme teltallemme sopivan paikan läheltä kehäämme. Petri laittoi teltan pystyyn sateen piiskatessa meitä ja tavaroitamme. Tunnelma oli todella kostea... / Saturday morning opened up beautifully rainy and gloomy. We arrived at the show place pretty early, and we searched for a suitable place for out tent near our ring. Petri put the tent up as the rain was whipping us and our gear. The atmosphere was really moist ...

Tuomarina toimi Igoris Zizevskis. Harmitti hieman, että viikolla tapahtui tuomarivaihdos juuri kehässämme, mutta tällä mentiin. Se on pelin henki. Mona oli hieman luimuna vesisateesta ja ei todellakaan tehnyt parastaan. Tuloksena oli EH. Koska ERI-tuloksia ei tästä kehästä tullut neljää, kaikki ERI:t ja EH:t pääsivät vielä kerran pyörähtämään kilpaluokassa. Oli hirveä odottaa vesisateessa kilpakehää. Tuuli piiskasi vettä melkein vaakasuorana päällemme, ja kastuimme hiljalleen ihoa myöten. Tulosta ei kilpakehästä tullut, joten juoksin Monan kauhealla vauhdilla takaisin telttaan. / Our judge was Igoris Zizevskis. I was a little bit annoyed that there was a change of judge in our ring. But it is the spirit of the game. Mona was a little annoyed of the rain and do not really do her best. The result was very good aka EH. Because there were not enough ERI results, all the ERI's and EH's were called in the competing ring. It was terrible to wait for it in the rain. The wind whipped the water from almost horizontal upon us, and slowly we got wet all the way down. We just went for a spin in there and after that I ran with terrible pace back to the tent with Mona.

Tässä täytyy sanoa, että onneksi Petri oli pyytänyt Maiju Mertalan ketyksemme tuuraamaan, jos en ehdi nakata Monaa telttaan ajoissa. Petri ja Maiju menivät etukäteen hakemaan trikkityttömme kehään ja lennosta annoin Maijulle näyttelytaluttimeni. Tässä vaiheessa sattui jokin ihmeellinen sekaannus, koska ajattelin, että minulla olisi enemmän aikaa ennen kehää, mutta näin ei ollut. Maiju and Petri rotated the dogs in the ring in the first showing. Fortunately, it went very well, and this didn't backfire for me.

Petri ja Arwen menivät yksilöimään ekana. Petri pääsi kokeilemaan oikeaa näyttelyä ensimmäistä kertaa, ja täytyy sanoa, että mätsärit kutsuvat enemmän tätä paria eli harjoittelua tarvitaan. Petri ja Arwen olivat molemmat sateesta ns. ahdistuneita ja tulos oli sen mukainen - EH. Pian pääsimme Lexien kanssa lentämään kehään. Vettä satoi yhä enemmän ja enemmän. Onneksi Lexie on viilipytty kaikessa tällaisessa ja pyörähdyksemme meni loistavasti. Tuloksena ERI. Tässä välissä juoksin Lexien sylissäni takaisin telttaan. Neiti piti saada lämpimäksi ja kuivaksi, joten pyyhin tassut ja harjasin turkin ilmavammaksi. Petri got to test the showing for the first time, and I must say that we need lots of match show's ie. training is needed. Fortunately, Lexie is always so calm in the ring and it went brilliantly. The result was ERI. In the meantime, I ran back to the tent Lexie in my arms. I had to get her warm and dry, so wiped her paws dry and brushed her coat airy. We waited for the competing class in our tent.

Kilpaluokka alkoi ja siellä seisoimme taas vesisateen piiskaamana. Lexie seisoi nätisti paikallaan asennossa. Tuomari kävi usein luonamme ja katseli meitä tarkasti. Pian hän aloitti sijoittamisen. Kun lopussa hän huusi, että toinen kohdallamme, olin ihmeissäni. Mitä! Mekö sijoituimme toisiksi! Pian kuulin kehäsihteerin huutavan, että AVK 2. ja SA. Olin innoissani! Juoksin tässä välissä Hennan ja Maijun telttaan kuivaamaan Lexien ja hieman harjailemaan neitoa. Olin iloinen, vaikka olin luihin ja ytimiin asti märkä. Jotenkin en vain välittänyt vesisateesta. Pian PN-kehä alkoi ja siellä seisoimme jälleen rivissä. Tuomari kävi usein luonamme, juoksutti meitä kehässä tiuhasti ympäri. Hän kävi usein luonamme ja tutkimassa meitä. Kun tuomari huusi 3. kohdallemme, olin ihmeissäni! Mitä!?! Kolmas? Sinne kävelimme kolmenneksi ja saimme vara-SERTin kouraamme. Kiitin tuomaria tästä, ja siellä seisoimme. Oli hilkulla serti, mutta ehkä jo ensi kerralla! Lexie oli loistava ja kulki hienosti! / I ran to Henna's and Maiju's tent to get a little bit dry and to brush Lexie. I was happy, even though I was wet to the bone. Somehow I just didn't seem to mind the rain. Soon PN ring started and there we stood in a row. The referee often went to stay with us, runned us around the ring many times. He often went to stay with us and study us. When the judge cried 3rd to me, I was amazed! What!?! Third? There walked on our place 3 rd and we got res-CC to my hand. I thanked the judge of this, and there we stood. The certificate was close, but perhaps on the next time! Lexie was great and did well!

Mistä meidät löytää? / Where to find us?

On taas tullut aika päivittää asioita tänne meidän blogiimme. Elämä on joskus hiljaista ja mitään ei tapahdu - tai tapahtuu, mutta kauhealla vauhdilla. Työkiireiden ja kaiken muun sekamelskan takia aika kuluu siivillä. Kesä on ollut hyvin rauhallista aikaa näyttelyineen ja agilitykilpailuineen. Lisäksi olemme ehtineet hieman nautiskellakin ja ottaa rennosti. Syksykin on hurahtanut ihmetellessä asioita. Kasvattajan näkökulmasta on ollut ihana seurata Monan kasvua, toisaalta oppia uutta edellisen pentueemme tyttösistä. Sheltti on upea koira - sen on huomannut tänä vuonna niin monella tapaa.

It is again time to update things from our world here to our blog. Life is sometimes quiet and nothing will happen - or happens, but with a terrible pace. Due to the pressures of work and everything else the time flies. Summer has been very restful time with some dog shows and agility competitions. In addition, we have been able to enjoy a little bit and take it easy. Autumn has been the time for wondering about things. From breeder's point of view, this time has been wonderful. I have had lots of time to follow Mona's growth, on the other hand to learn new things out of our girls from previous litter. Sheltie is gorgeous and wonderous dog - I have noticed this in so many ways.

Puheenjohtajana Pohjois-Suomen Sheltit ry:ssä

Tänä vuonna olen toiminut puheenjohtaja Pohjois-Suomen Sheltit ry:ssä. Mukanani toiminnassa ovat olleet upeat hallituslaiseni. Heidän kanssaan on ollut ihana tehdä töitä ja saan kiittää heitä paljosta. Tänä vuonna tehokkaimmaksi ajaksi voisi katsoa nimenomaan kesän ja syksyn. Keväällä teimme ns. kurssitoimintaa, ja harjoittelimme yhteistyötä hallituslaisten kanssa. Kesä meni suunnitellessa syksyä ja syksyllä toteutimme paljon. Teimme yhdessä Shetlanninlammaskoirat ry:n kanssa sivuerikoisnäyttelyn Nallikarissa, järjestimme agilityviikonlopun yhdessä kouluttajamme Iina Asunnan kanssa, järjestimme luonnetestin Haukiputaalla sekä vielä suuren suuren match show'n Oulunsalossa Kalakaverin kanssa. Mukana oli ihania ihmisiä, joiden panosta edelleen arvostan niin suuresti. Siten olenkin tässä vuoden aikana kypsytellyt mielessäni ajatusta, että voisin jatkaa ensi vuoden puheenjohtajana, jos yhdistysläiseni näin haluavat. Toimintaa olisi mukava kehittää nyt entisestään. Saada siihen pysyvyyttä ja selkeän rungon.

This year I have served as Chairman of the Northern Finland Shelties Association. With me in action there has been a spectacular board of members. With them I have had the pleasure to work with and I truly like to thank them for that. This year, the most effective period of time has been the summer and the autumn. In the spring, we made the so-called course activities and practiced the new job at hand together. Summer went into designing the autumn and in the autumn we carried out a lot. We worked together with The Finnish Shetland Sheepdog Association and did a side special exhibition at Nallikari, we organized an agility weekend, together with the trainer Iina Asunta, we organized a nature test for dogs in Haukipudas, and yet we did a great great match show in Oulunsalo with Kalakaveri. There were wonderful people, whose input I still appreciate so much. Thus, I have been thinking about it a lot, and I think that I would like to continue as chairman next year, if other members wish so. It would be nice to develop our association further - make the organization stabile and build a clear frame to it.

Mona - Susadan Freya

Mona täytti syyskuussa 1 vuotta. Niin tämä meidän neitokainen kasvaa. Täytyy sanoa, että tytöstä on kasvanut varsinainen kaunotar niin mieleltään kuin ulkonäöltään. Harmillisinta tytössä on koko, mutta se olkoot hyve, kun ajattelemme jalostuksellisia tavoitteitamme.

Mona celebrated her first birthday in September. So this is how fast our young lady grows. I must say that the girl has grown to be an actual beauty queen - in mind as in appearance. One fault which I hate is the size, but I will let it be a virtue, when we think of the breeding goals.

Kesällä kävimme Monan kanssa muutamassa näyttelyssä (Ylivieska, Oulu, Muhos), mutta meitä rankaistiin aina koosta. Se hieman jäi harmittamaan, ja siksi emme käyneetkaan kovin monessa näyttelyssä. Annamme neidin kehittyä - tosin tuskin se tuomareiden ajatus koosta muuttuu edes iän mukana. Seuraavana mielessä jalostuksellisesti tietysti silmä-, lonkka-, polvi- ja kyynärkuvaus. Jos niistä saamme vihreää valoa, alkaa todellinen metsästys poikakaverille.

In the summer we went to few shows with Mona (at Ylivieska, Oulu, Finland and Muhos), but we were always punished for our size. It was a little bit disappointed, and that why we did not do so very many shows. We let our little lady to evolve - although hardly the ​​judges will not change their opinion about the size, even with age. The next obstacle before breeding are of course the eye, hip, knee and elbow x-rays. If we get the green light, we will begin the actual hunt for groom.

Mona aloitti syksyllä myös agilityn alkeet Petrin kanssa. Heillä tuntuu toimivan tuo yhteistyö hyvin ja Mona näyttää nauttivan siitä tekemisestä. Hieman korkeat paikat pelottavat, mutta se on ihan normaalia pienelle pennulle. Kaikkeen tottuu treenin myötä.

Mona began the agility with Petri this autumn. They seem to hit it off well and cooperation works well with Mona. Our little girl seems to enjoy it. High places seems to be frightening, but it is quite normal for a small puppy. She will get used to it after time and training.


Viivi - Dash'ing Glamourous Geisha

Viivi nousi kuin nousikin 2. luokkaan kesän lopulla. Petri on yrittänyt pitkään nollaa, mutta aina se on jäänyt pienen virheen taakse (kerran jopa virheettömästä suorituksesta ei saatu nollaa). Petri on treenannut neitiä todella paljon koko kesän ja yhteistyö alkoi lopulta toimia. Harmillisesti Petri loukkasi jalkansa, ja jalka jouduttiin kipsaamaan. Tämä tarkoitti pientä taukoa kisaamisesta. Henna sitten otti ohjat käsiin ja viimeisteli kesken jääneen työnsä eli nosti neidin kakkosiin, että Petri pääsee puhtaalta pöydältä tekemään tulosta. Upeasti neiti liitelikin, vaikka hieman hakemista olikin. Ohjaajalla ei vain vauhti meinannut pysyä päällä.

Viivi rose to 2nd class at the end of the summer. Petri has been trying for a long time to get the last zero, but always there has been a little mistake on the track (once even a flawless performance was not a zero). Petri has been working out a lot with Viivi this summer, and their co-operation has developed a lot during the summer. Unfortunately Petri hurt his leg, and the leg had to be plastered for two weeks. This meant a small break from racing. Henna then took the lead and finished her unfinished work with Viivi and lifted her to 2nd class so that Petri can start from clear table. On track Viivi exquisitely flew, although there were a bit more searching that with Petri. The pilot had a hard time to keep up with the dog.

Lexie - Kråkeslottets Miss Lexus

Lexien kanssa on ollut hieman hankalaa ja taistelua, vaikkakin agilityhommat ovat hiljalleen alkaneet rullata eteenpäin. Neidistä on vaikka mihin, mutta ohjaajasta ei. Ohjaaja tuntee olonsa todella huonokuntoiseksi ja ylipainoiseksi. Haaveena olisi talvikaudella saada pois painoa. Sitten olisimme terveempi tiimi. Nyt tuntuu jotenkin, että molempien jaksaminen hidastaa meidän hommaa. Yritämme keksiä keinoja saada asia kuntoon.

With Lexie we have had a little bit difficulties and struggle, although agility has slowly begun to roll forward. Our little lady has it in her, even though the pilot does not. Pilot feels really unfit and overweight. Our dream would be during the winter season to lose the extra weight. Then we would have a healthier team. Now I feel somehow that our both endurance slows our development. We are trying to come up with a plan how we are able to win this fight.

Näyttelyissä Lexie selvisi kesällä keskinkertaisesti. ERI-linjalle pääsimme takaisin kesän viimeisissä näyttelyissä, mutta jokin Lexiessä on, mikä ei tuomareiden silmää miellytä. Sitä pyrimme nyt hakemaan. Ehkä laihduttaminen antaisi neitiin uutta eloa.

In shows Lexie survived the summer averagely. We got back to EXC-line in the last summer's exhibitions, but there seems to be something in Lexie, which doesn't meet the eye with judges. We now try to find it out, what that may be - weight, movement? 

Gala ja Arwen - Elentarion Galadriel ja Arwen Undomiel

Gala ja Arwen ovat koko kesän juosseet mukanamme agilitytreeneissä. Kehitystä on tapahtunut, vaikkakin takapakkiakin on tullut. Saimme molemmille talvitreenipaikankin, joten olemme nyt kehittyneet huomattavasti. Arwen ja Petri ovat loistavia, samoin Hennalla ja Galallakin on alkanut luistaa homma. Tytöt kehittyvät valtavasti koko ajan. Heidän luontaisia vaistojaan moneen asiaan on ihana seurata. Toisaalta molemmilla heistä on todella kylmä pää moneen asiaan eli mikään ei kauheasti pelota kumpaakaan. Galan bravuureita on irtoaminen. Kun Lexie on kiinni aina ohjaajassaan, Gala on ihan päinvastoin. Voin sanoa kentän toiselta laidalta puomin ja neiti juoksee sinne. Aika hienoa?

Gala and Arwen have run throughout the summer with us in agility training. We have made a lot of progress, although there have been few setbacks. We got groups for both in winter training, so we have now evolved considerably. Arwen and Petri are great, as well Henna and Gala have found the same language. Girls develop tremendously all the time. Their natural instincts to many things is wonderful to follow. On the other hand both of them are very cool-headed. There are not so many things they are afraid of. Gala is good at independent work. When Lexie is close or near the pilot, Gala is just the opposite. I can say from the other side of the track "a bridge" and Gala runs and does it. Sounds great, does it?

Arwen osoitti liitotaitoja tuossa aikaisemmin syksyllä. Petri ja Arwen harjoittelivat A-kontaktia. Arwen juoksi A:n muutaman kerran ylitse normaalisti, mutta sitten alkoi neiti hieman kuumentua. Seuraavaksi A juostiin vauhdilla, ponkaistiin korkeimmalta kohdalta ilmaan niin, että liito jatkui n. 2,5 metrissä kauas A:sta. Alas tultiin tietysti vetovoiman mukaisesti, ja säikähdimme Petrin kanssa molemmat, että neiti hajottaa itsensä. Niin ei käynyt, vaan A:lle piti päästä uudelleen. Arwen showed off her flying skills in the autumn. Petri and Arwen practiced the A-contact. Arwen did the A over a couple of times normally, but then she started run a bit hot. Next time she speeded up the A, and then at the highest point of the A, she jumped in the air, so that she continued to fly in the air - about in 2.5 meters - away from the A. Then she dropped down from there, and we were both startled with Petri that she must have broken something when she hit the floor. This did not happen, but she went towards A like nothing happened. We christened her "reikäpää" - our little flying black girl.

Kesäkuulumisia ja poikakaverin hakua - Summer Info and Boyfriend Adds

Kävimme tosiaan viime päivityksessä harjoittelemassa näyttelyssä olemista hienoin tuloksin. Kulkeminenkin alkoi sitten luistaa ja palasimme näyttelyissä perinteiselle paikallemme kärkikahinoihin. Joten harjoittelu tekee mestarin. Katsotaanpa, minne se kantaa tulevaisuudessa.

On my last update I told that we went and practiced showing with good results. So it seems, that practice makes perfect. Let's see, where does it take us in the future.

Agility

Agilitykuulumisista sellaista, että olemme nyt aloittaneet kesätreenit uusissa ryhmissä. Viivi treenaa sunnuntaisin ja Lexie maanantaisin. Ohjaajat ovat ihania ja innokkaita nuoria tyttöjä, joiden kanssa olen kyllä taas saanut kokea ahaa-elämyksiä. Viivi-neiti on hiljalleen valmistumassa oikeaksi agilityrallikoiraksi, jonka kanssa nyt toivon, että voisimme saavuttaa jo kohta nolliakin. Lexie on myös edennyt niin paljon, että lähdemme kokeilemaan hyppyratoja ja hiljalleen muitakin.

We have now started summer training in new groups. Viivi has her group on Sundays and Lexie has hers on Mondays. The instructors are wonderful and eager young girls with whom I have been able to learn a great deal of new things. Viivi is slowly becoming a true agility dog, which now hopefully will give more zero tracks. Lexie also has advanced so much that we can go to try those easier jump tracks, and gradually move to harder ones.

Kävimme OKK:n kisoissa 6.6. kokeilemassa, miltä se kisaaminen maistui. Lexien kanssa kävimme hakemassa valitettavan hylsyn hyppyradalta. Viivin kanssa tosin onnistuimme saavuttamaan oman luokkamme 3. sijan, vaikka saimme 5 virhepistettä pienestä erheestä. Olin onnellinen - saimme ajan. Se riitti - ainakin nyt.

We went to OKK's agility races on 6th of June to try out, how fast can we run. With Lexie unfortunately we got disqualified of the jumping course. With Viivi we managed to achieve 3rd place, even though we had five penalty points from a small error. I was happy - we got something else than disqualified. That was enough - for now.


Näyttelyt

Vaasan katastrofin jälkeen en juuri halunnut käydä näyttelyissä ennen kuin sain askelluksen kuntoon. Kävimme tosiaan sitä treenaamassa oman kuntamme mätsärissä ja voittohan sieltä napsahti. Aikaisemmin luulin, että en osaa esittää koiraa lainkaan, mutta sen jälkeen itsetunto sai kyllä sellaista kultaa, että sillä oli omat vaikutuksensa.

After the disaster at Vaasa, I just didn't want to go to shows before I got my walk into shape. We went and practiced that in a unofficial show at Kempele and we got the first price. Previously, I thought that I can not show a dog at all, but after that my self-esteem got what it needed.

Kävimme kokeilemassa näyttelyä sitten Kemissä 8.6. Tuomarina oli puolalainen Miroslaw Redliki. Koska Lexie on jo "iso tyttö", kilpailimme jo avoimessa luokassa. Onhan se villiä olla siellä "isojen" koirien kanssa. Saimme sieltä kotiaviemiseksi ERIn SA:lla ja sijoituimme luokassamme kolmanneksi. Arvostelun voi lukea Lexien meriiteistä.

After that we went to try showing at Kemi 8th of June. The judge was polish Miroslaw Redliki. Since Lexie is already a "big girl", we competed in the open class. After all, it is wild to be in the ring with those "big" dogs. In the end we got ERI and SA and finished third in our class. You can read Lexie's review from her merits.

Loppuviikosta saimme myös kivan yllärin postissa eli Shetlanninlammaskoirat ry:n ykkösruusukkeen. Haluttomasti olimme kuvassa, koska viikon ajan meidän neiti on ilmeisesti riuhunut tuolla Rajakylän kylillä, joten uni maistui aika hyvin... "Tämänkö takia herätit mut?"

End of the this week we also had a nice surprise in mail from Finnish Shetland Sheepdogs Association - National Show 1st Rosett. We got enough ERI's last year. Reluctantly Lexie was in the picture, because our little missus had apparently run a round Rajakylä the whole week, so sleep tasted pretty good ... "And this was the reason, why you woke me up?"

Viivin kanssa emme näyttelyissä tosiaan enää hirveästi juokse. Päätimme sen aikoinaan, kun huomasimme, että neitimme ei oikeastaan ole mikään ERI-kone. Keskitymme sporttiprinsessamme kanssa agilityyn. Siitä me nautimme.

With Viivi our shows are done. We chose it once when we realized that our missus ain't an ERI machine. We focus on agility with our little sport girl. That is what we really want.


Muuta elämää

Kevät meni tosiaan omistajalla omien henkilökohtaisten saavutusten hankinnassa. Hankinnassa onnistuinkin ja olen nyt tyytyväisesti siitä työstä erossa. Nyt voin keskittyä koirahommiin paremmin työajan ulkopuolella. Kävimme viime viikolla pienellä kesälomareissulla Etelä-Suomessa. Kohteena olivat Ruisrock ja etelän sukulaiset. Koiria emme voineet ottaa mukaan, joten neidit olivat taas Suvin ja Jukan hellässä huomassa viikon. Sitä ennen saimme nauttia neljän koiran seurasta omassa kodissamme, kun Suvi tarvitsi hoitajaa Vilmalle ja Lillille. Hommat menivät taas siis kuin käsikirjoituksessa, joten ei stressiä eikä ongelmia. Neljän koiran kanssa eläminen ei ollut sen ihmeellisempää kuin kahdenkaan. Valitettavasti vesisateet ja ukkoset häiritsivät lenkkeilyämme, mutta onneksi saimme pakolliset lenkkimme tehtyä niiden lomassa + järjestettyä muuta aktiviteettia neideillemme.

Spring really went by fast because of owner's own personal project. I finally got it finished and now I am happy to say that I can now focus on the dog affairs better outside working hours. Last week we went on a summer vacation trip in southern Finland. We visited at Ruisrock and at Petri's relatives. We could not take the dogs with us, so our ladies were again at Suvi and Jukka's being looked after. Before that, we were able to enjoy the company of four dogs in our own home, when Suvi needed a carer for  Vilma and Lilli. Things went like it was on the script, so there was no stress and no problems. Four dogs living with us was not that different than with two of them. Unfortunately, the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms disrupted by jogging, but fortunately we made the mandatory jogs easily + did some other activities.

Näyttelyssä toimimista harjoittelemassa

Olen jo pitkään Petriä suostutellut näyttelyharjoitteluun. Nyt siinä onnistuin ja vein miehen Lexien kanssa kokeilemaan näyttelyssä toimimista paikalliseen mätsäriin. Näyttäminenhän onnistui ihan hyvin, joten voin ehkä ajatella, että Pete voisi joskus kehään muiden kepojen lailla mennä.

For long I have been persuaded Petri to do some show training. Now finally I was able to take my man and Lexie to try out showing at a local match show. Showing went well, so I may be able to think that Pete would sometimes go to the ring the with others.

Mätsäreissä huomasi taas Lexien erään upean ominaisuuden. On ottanut ilmeisesti omistajastaan mallia eli voi nukkua missä vain milloin vain haluaa. Ei haittaa, vaikka ulkona sataisi ja salamoisi. Uni tulee.

At the match show I noticed that our Lexie has a great feature. It is apparently taken from its owner, ie the girl can sleep anywhere, anytime she wants. No matter if it is raining and lightning. Sleep will come.


Sulhon metsästys on alkanut

Niinhän se menee, että jos ei ensimmäisellä yrittämällä onnistu, aina on toinenkin kerta. Se tapahtunee nyt syksyllä, jos kaikki menee hyvin. Astutamme Lexiemme nyt syksyllä ja sulhoa nyt metsästämme.

So it goes that if the first attempt does not succeed, there is always another one. It's taking place now, in the fall, if all goes well. We'll breed our Lexie this fall, and now we are seeking a male for her.

Näyttelykausi 2013 avattu - Kajaani KV 13.1.

Näyttelykausi on täten avattu! Kävimme Peten ja Lexien kanssa pyörähtämässä Kajaanin Tamminäyttelyssä eli 1. kansainvälisessä näyttelyssä tälle vuodelle. Näyttely järjestettiin perinteisesti Kajaanin Pallohallissa, joka on paikkana aina yhtä eksoottinen kuin voi kuvitella: paineilmahalli, jossa on sorapohja. Pienellä plussakelillä voitte kuvitella, millaista mäskiä lattia on ja pakkasella saattaa pikkaisen ehkä vilustuttaa. Näyttelymerkeissähän sinne mennään, joten kunhan kehässä on kaikki kunnossa, kaikki ok.

Show season opened! We went and took a spin at Kajaani Tamminäyttely ie. at 1. international dog show for this year. The dog show was organized traditionally at Kajaani's Football Hall, which is always as exotic as you can imagine: compressed-air hall with a sandy ground. When it is a little warmer weather you can imagine what kind of mash the floor can be, and when it is cold weather you freeze your ass there. You go there to show your dog, so there you go as long as the ring is all right, everything is ok.

Tuomarina Kajaanissa toimi Carin Åkesson Ruotsista. Kehämme oli nro 3, joka oli mukavasti juuri sellaisessa paikassa, että siitä ei ollut pitkä matka minnekään. Lisäksi näyttelyyn oli tulossa Lexien kasvattaja Linda koirineen, joten oli mukava nähdä taas Lindaa pitkästä aikaa. Pystytimme paikkamme kehän laidalle ja laitoin häkin ja pöydän valmiiksi. Lexie kilpailee tästä eteenpäin avoimessa luokassa, koska neiti täytti jo joulun alla 2 vuotta.  Täten tunnukset AVO eli avoin luokka ja AVK eli avoimen luokan kilpailuluokka vilisevät varmasti usein päivityksissämme.

The judge at Kajaani was Carin Åkesson from Sweden. Our ring was no. 3, which was a very good place to be i.e. you were almost in the middle of everything. Before show we heard that Lexie's breeder Linda was coming there with their dogs, so it was nice to see Linda again after a long time. We put up a place for us near our ring and I put everything ready for us. Lexie is competing in the open class from now on, because our little lady turned 2 years just before Christmas. Thus, the letters AVO i.e. open class and AVK i.e. open class competition class certainly will appear frequently on my updates.

Tähän näyttelyyn oli ilmoittautunut 78 shelttiä, joista uroksia oli 31 ja narttuja 47. Narttujen avoimen luokan kehässä oli tänä vuonna 15 koirakkoa. Kehämme meni hyvin ja näyttelimme itsemme hienosti erinomaisen arvoiseksi eli AVO ERI. Kilpailuluokassa olisimme toivoneet korkeampaa sijoitusta, mutta tuomarin ilmeestä näki, että emme valitettavasti korkeammalle pääsisi. Sijoituksemme oli siis AVK 4. Turkkimme ruskeat kohdat loistivat niin hyvin esiin tässä kelmeässä valossa. Kimi Räikkösen sanoin: "Teimme parhaamme ja tänään se riitti tähän." Seuraavalla kerralla teemme paremmin. At this show there were 78 shelties: 31 males and 47 females. At the bitches open class there were 15 dogs. Our ring went well and we showed ourselves worthy of the excellent EXC. In competitive class, we would have preferred a higher ranking, but we saw of the judges look that, unfortunately, we do not reach higher. Our placement was 4th. Lexie's furs brown points shone out well in the pallid light. As Kimi Raikkonen said: "We did our best today and this was all we got." Next time we'll do better. (Review.)

Oli kiva, että Lindakin oli paikalla. Hän kävi antamassa hyviä vinkkejä minulle eli oma henkilökohtainen tuki on aina hyväksi pitkän tauon jälkeen. Tilailin häneltä myös erään olennaisen näyttelytarvikkeen, koska haluamme olla eduksemme. Seuraavassa näyttelyssä toivottavasti voimme sitä näytellä.

It was nice that Linda was there. She came and gave me good tips for me i.e. I had my personal support  there which is always good after a long break. I ordered from her a one very essential show equipment, because we want to show in our favor. In the next show, hopefully we can show it to everyone else.

Viivin poika Sisukin oli harjoitellut ensimmäisiä näyttelyitään Rovaniemellä lapsi ja koira -kisassa. Mätsäreissä pikkumies oli sijoittunut toiseksi. Hienosti siis on poikaa hoidettu ja treenattu. Kuvassa pikkumies ja kuvaajana Kati Määttä.

Viivi's son Sisu had practiced show behavior in the first exhibition at Rovaniemi in a child and a dog competition. At that match show the little man was second. The boy is in good hands and trained well. In the photo is our little man and the photographer is Kati Määttä.

Hieno viikonloppu - infoa, koirakavereita, pentuja sekä serti!

Tämä viikonloppu oli todellakin tapahtumarikas. Kävimme lauantaina 25.8. Susadanin kasvattipäivillä Haukiputaalla Häyrysenniemessä sekä sunnuntaina 26.8. Rovaniemellä Elo-Show'ssa. Olimme mananneet suuria asioita Kuopiosta lähdettäessä, joten ne piti lunastaa. Toisaalta viikonloppuun mahtui myös hieman surkeampiakin asioita, mutta iloisissa merkeissä. Viivi-mammamme lähti sunnuntaina äitiyslomalle kasvattajan eli Maaritin tykö. Neiti on nyt kotoa poissa 2 kk.

This weekend was certainly eventful. We went on Saturday 25.8. to Susadan's breeder meeting at Haukipudas Häyrysenniemi and on Sunday 26.8. we went to Rovaniemi August-Show. We had maid some promises beforehand, so they had to be redeemed. On the other hand the weekend also included miserable things, but in joyful marks. Viivi-mom went on maternity leave on Sunday to the breeders house. She is now 2 months away from home.

Susadanin kasvattipäivät

Heli haistelee pentuhajuja...

Kävimme lauantaina toisen kerran jo Susadanin kasvattipäivillä. Toivottavasti tästä muodostuu perinne, ja voimme viedä neitimme tulevaisuudessakin tällaisille päiville. Toisaalta siellä päivillä ollessani huomasin, että kaipaisimme muutenkin shelttiseuraa aina viikottain esim. lenkkien parissa. Taidamme siis aktivoitua uudelleen noille shelttilenkeille.

We went on Saturday for the second time to Susadan's breeder meeting. Hopefully, this comes a tradition, and we can take our girls there in the future too. On the other hand there at the meeting, I noticed that we miss sheltie company every week. So I think we're going to re-active our visits at Sheltie Jog every Sunday.

Tiina ja Aini olivat varanneet meille Koljun majan Koljun venesataman kupeesta. Se on hieno paikka viettää aikaa. Siellä on iso pirtti, jonne voi mennä sateelta suojaan ja iso piha, missä koirat voivat telmiä, ihmiset voivat seurustella sekä paistaa makkaraa. Lisäksi siellä on sauna, jota voi myös lämmittää. Sääkin osui kohdalleen, joten oli mukava viettää ko. päivää. Mikäs oli sen mukavampaa kuin katsoa koirien telmimistä keskenään tai haistella pentuja pentuaitauksessa.

Lexie ja isä Pepsi

Tiina and Aini had booked us Kolju's hut near Kolju's marina. It's a great place to spend time. There is a big living space, where you can go in case of rain and a big yard, where the dogs can have fun, people can socialize, as well as grill sausages. In addition, there is a sauna, which can also be heated. The weather fell into place, so it was nice to spend time there. What would be nicer than to smell puppies or watch shelties play together. 

Katsetta ei voinut vastustaa...

Kasvattipäivät eivät ole vain istumista ja seurustelua, vaan siellä saa aina uutta infoa kaikesta tiedosta, mitä koiramaailmaan on tullut. Tällä kertaa saimme tietoa ravinnoista ja ruokinnasta sekä trimmausapua Tiinalta halutessamme. Mehän käytimmekin tätä palvelua hyväksemme, koska seuraavana päivänä menisimme Rovaniemelle. Tarvitsimme serti-trimmin. Tiina sen sitten antoikin ja laittoi Lexien parhaaseen paraatikuntoon. Iltapäivä meni nopeasti näissä merkeissä. Valitettavasti seuraavan päivän laittamiset odottivat, joten lähdimme kotiin pesemään koiramme seuraavaa päivää varten.

The meeting are not just sitting and socializing, but there is always new info for us of all the information, what the dog world has produced. This time we got the information about nutrition and feeding, as well as trimming help from Tiina. We used this service, because the next day we would go to Rovaniemi. We needed a certificate-trim. Tiina then gave it and put Lexie in best shape. Afternoon went quickly. Unfortunately, the next days things waited for us, so we went home to wash the dogs for the next day.

Rovaniemen Elo-Show

Sunnuntaina kävimme pyörähtämässä Rovaniemellä ryhmänäyttelyssä. Tämä näyttely olisi meidän viimeinen tälle kesälle ja vuodelle, koska tämän jälkeen ajattelimme jättää Lexie-neitimme lomalle. Tavoitteena oli lopettaa kesä tyylikkäästi ja sehän onnistui!

On Sunday, we went to a group show at Rovaniemi. This would be our last show for this summer and for the year, because then we thought we'd leave our Miss Lexie on holiday. The aim was to end the summer in style, and in that we succeeded!

Rovaniemen näyttely järjestettiin Puistolammin pallokentällä. Mukana näyttelyssä olivat FC1- ja FC2-ryhmät. Tuomarina shetlanninlammaskoirille toimi Eriksson Eva Ruotsista. Mukana oli 43 shelttiä, joista pentuja oli 4, uroksia 18 ja narttuja 25. Shelttijunnut arvioitiin kehässä 2 ja heidän tuomarinsa oli Elina Tan-Hietalahti. Kuitenkin shelttien pääarvioinnin teki Eva Eriksson.

Rovaniemi show was held at Puistolampi ball field. The exhibition was for FC1 and FC2 groups. The judge of Shetland Sheepdog was Eva Eriksson from Sweden. There were 43 shelties, of which four were puppies, 18 were males and 25 were females. Junior Shelties were evaluated in the ring 2 by judge Elina Tan-Hietalahti. However shelties main judge was Eva Eriksson.

Meidän kesämme oli mennyt tähän asti hienosti. Olimme saaneet tämän vuoden aikana kerättyä Lexielle hienon ERI-suoran, joten nyt olisi hyvä saada jotain kivaa vielä lopuksi, mihin olisi hyvä lopettaa. Tietysti toiveet olivat korkealla! Esimerkiksi naureskelimme Petrin kanssa, että lähdemme sertiä hakemaan Rovaniemeltä. Muuhun emme olisi tyytyväisiä. Hieman kyllä meinasi ehkä olla suuret luulot, mutta onneksi meidän ei tarvinnut tulla kotiin tyhjin käsin.

Our summer we had gone very well so far. We had received this year for Lexie a fine row of EXCellent, so now would be good to get something nice, where it would be good to end this summer. Of course expectations were high! For example, we were chuckling with Petri, that we went there to pick us up a certificate. Otherwise we would not be happy. A little bit high hopes, but fortunately we did not have to come home empty-handed.

Löysimme paikkamme ihan kehän laidalta, josta pääsimme seuraamaan tapahtumia + sitä, mistä tuomari tykkäsi. Mittatikku oli käytössä usein, joten ainakin koosta tuomari oli tarkka. Toisaalta en juuri ehtinyt seurailla muuta trimmatessani Lexiä kehäkuntoon. Lisäksi keskityin neitiin muutenkin, kun harjoittelimme kulkua ja käyttäytymistä kehässä.

We found a lovely place beside the circle, where we were able to follow the events + see of what judge liked. Dipstick was in use often, so of size the judge was very strict. On the other hand I just had no time to follow the others, because I was grooming Lexie to ring shape. In addition, I focused on our miss anyway, when we practiced walking and behavior in the ring.

Pian olikin narttujen vuoro astua kehään. Koska junnut arvioitiin toisessa kehässä, aloitettiin meidän kehämme heti nuorista nartuista. Kehässämme oli neljä narttua. Me kilpailimme nrolla 32. Tuomari kävi lävitse kaikki koirat tarkasti. Meidän kehämme meni hienosti. Lexie kulki taas kuin unelma ja käyttäytyi mallikelpoisesti koko ajan. Tämä toikin meille omasta vuorostamme ERI:n. Kilpaluokassa toimimme myös hienosti ja tuomari sijoitti meidät luokkamme voittajaksi eli olimme NUK1 ja ainoastaan me saimme luokastamme SA:n. JIHUU! Pääsisimme ainakin yrittämään sertiä!

Soon it was females turn to enter the ring. Because the juniors were evaluated in the second ring, we started our ring of the young females. At our ring there were four females. We competed on number 32. The judge went through all the dogs carefully. We did great at our turn. Lexie ran like a dream again, and behaved exemplary manner at all times. This behavior and moving gave us EXCellent. In competing class we also competed well and judge placed us in the first place so we were NUK1 and only we got worth a certificate badge aka pink ribbon. JIHUU! Now we could at least try to get that certificate.

Paras narttu -kehää odottelimmekin jonkin aikaa. Siinä ehtikin hieman rauhoittua kehävoitosta. Olin onnellinen, koska olimme matkalla oikeaan suuntaan. Aloinkin sitten lopulta laittamaan Lexietä paras narttu -kehää varten. Hieman pöyhintää ja menoksi. PN-kehässä meinasi hieman jännittää, miten nyt kävisi. Toiveena oli sijoittua mahdollisimman ylös. Tuomari näytti tykkäävän Lexiestä ja jäimmekin lopulta viimeisen neljän joukkoon. Lexie sijoittui PN-kehässä lopulta kierroksen jälkeen toiseksi. Koska voittaja oli jo valio, tippui sertifikaatti meille eli saimme kuin saimmekin sen! AIVAN MAHTAVA TUNNE! Tämä oli se juttu, mitä tulimme hakemaan. Arvostelu oli myös hieno!

Best Bitch ring we had to wait for some time. At that time I had time to calm down after our winning our ring. I was happy because we were on the right track. I began then eventually put Lexie at best for best bitch ring. A little combing and puffing and then on we go. BB-ring almost got us a little nervous, what would happen now. The hope was to rank as high as possible. The judge seemed to like Lexie so we were left at the ring finally as one of the last four. Lexie ranked eventually at BB-ring a second. As the winner was already champion, we got the certificate! JUST A GREAT FEELING! This was the thing what we came looking for. Our review was great too!

Hieman näyttelyn jälkeen nauratti, että emme me turhaan uhonneet hakevamme sertiä täältä. Niin vain kävi ja saimme sen, mitä halusimmekin. Kimi Räikkönen -asenne tehosi: "Teemme parhaamme ja katsomme, minne se riittää." Tulos oli riittävä.

After the show we giggled, that we did not unnecessarily spoke of getting that certificate from Rovaniemi. It just happened and we got what we wanted. Kimi Raikkonen attitude worked: "We'll do our best and see is that enough." Our performance was adequate.

Sawo-Show ja sivuerikoisnäyttely 3. - 5.8.2012

Tänä viikonloppuna kävimme pienellä näyttelykierroksella Savon sydämessä eli Kuopiossa. Kohteena oli kolmipäiväinen Sawo Show perjantaina ja lauantaina sekä shetlanninlammaskoirien sivuerikoisnäyttely sunnuntaina. Pääsisin harjoittelemaan koiran näyttämistä oikein olan takaa ja toisaalta pääsisi kokeilemaan, kuinka korkealle saamme Miss Lexien nostettua. Tulokset loppujen lopuksi olivat kyllä yllättävät.

This weekend we went to a small show tour in the heart of Savo, Kuopio. We went there to the three-day Sawo Show on Friday and Saturday, and to Shetland Sheepdogs side special show on Sunday. I get to rehearse dog showing for real and on the other hand we will try, how high we can raise our Miss Lexus. Results were in the end quite surprising.

Perjantai 3.8.2012 - Sawo Show

Perjantaina heräsimme aikaisin aamusta, että ehtisimme paikalle sopivan ajoissa. Kehät alkaisivat pyörimään klo 11 ja nartut pääsisivät kehään klo 12.30. Söimme aamiaisen rauhassa ja sitten pakkasimme automme. Edessä olisi kolmen päivän turnee, joten tavaraa tuli ottaa mukaan sitä silmällä pitäen. Mukaan lähti siis kaikki tarpeellinen: uusi trimmauspöytä pyörillä, retkituolit, teltta ja koiranhoitotarvikkeet. Lisäksi tietysti muutakin tavaraa, mutta koiranäyttelyn kannalta nämä olivat tärkeimmät.

On Friday, we woke up early in the morning, so we would be at the show on time. The rings start at 11 and females went into the ring at 12:30. We ate breakfast in peace, and then packed our car. We had a three days turnee ahead of us so we had to take everything possible with us. We took with us everything we needed: a new trimming table with wheels, camping chairs, show tent and dog grooming supplies. In addition, of course, other stuff, but dog grooming supplies were the most important ones.

Matkalle kuulimme uutisia ihmisiltä eli FB-päivityksiä paikasta. Telttarivi oli kuulemma muodostunut jo aamuyöstä, kun koiraharrastajat olivat vieneet parhaimmat paikat. Tämä ei meitä haitannut, koska tiesimme, että aina soppi löytyy jostakin. Ehkä olisi hyvä olla kehän vieressä, mutta toisaalta olisi kiva olla myös kauempana rauhassa kaikelta.

On our way we heard the news from people as Facebook upgrades. There were huge tent row already,  formed in early morning, when the dog fanciers had taken the top spots. This didn't bother us, because we knew that would be a spot for us somewhere. Perhaps it would be good to have a circle next to it, but on the other hand it would be nice to have a more distant place to be.

Matka meni ongelmitta ja olimme paikalla ihan ajoissa eli noin tuntia ennen kehää. Näyttelypaikkana toimi Kuopion Sorsasalon ravirata. Paikka on hieno ja ihan mukava koiranäyttelyille. Keskialueella on mukavasti nurmea, jonne voi perustaa telttakylän helposti. Toisaalta paikalla on monipuolisesti kaikki rodut, joten siellä pääsee näkemään kaikki koirarotuja samalla, kun keskittyy omaankin näyttelyyn. Lisäksi siellä on aina mukavat tarviketorit, joilta löytää mukavia tarjouksia koiratarvikkeista.

The trip went smoothly and we were just in time at the spot, about an hour before the ring. The exhibition venue was Kuopio Sorsasalo racetrack. The place is nice and it's pretty nice place for dog shows. Central region is the comfort grass field, where you can easily set up a tent village. On the other hand there is a wide range of all dog breeds present, so you can see all of them at the same time, when you are doing your own show. In addition, there is always a nice accessory sale, where you can find nice offers on dog supplies.

Perjantaina kehämme oli nro 23. Tuomarina toimi Höier Charlotte Tanskasta. Paikalle oli saapunut 61 shelttiä, joista pentuja oli 6, uroksia 22 ja narttuja 33. Lexie kilpaili nuorten luokassa. Luokassamme oli 10 narttua. Kehämme meni hienosti, koska Lexie kulki kehässä kuin unelma. Hieman oli muutama hakeminen parissa kohdassa, mutta muuten neiti toimi ja liikkui hienosti. Tuloksena oli ERI eli erinomainen. Tämä oikeutti meille paikan nuorten kilpaluokkaan. Kilpakehässäkin kaikki meni muuten hienosti, mutta Lexie hieman harhaili yhdessä kohdassa. Sijoituimme lopulta kehämme kolmanneksi ja olimme sertin arvoinen eli saimme SA:n. Tämä oikeutti meille paikan PN- eli paras narttu -kehään, mutta siellä emme enää sijoittuneet.

On Friday our ring was no. 23. The judge was Höier Charlotte from Denmark. There were 61 shelties present of which 6 were puppies, 22 males and 33 females. Lexie competed in the intermediate class. In our class there were 10 females. Our ring went well, because Lexie walked in the ring like a dream. In few spots she was somewhere else, but otherwise she went fine and was moving beautifully. The result was an excellent ie. EXC. This entitles us a place in intermediate compete class. In compete ring everything went just fine otherwise, but in one place Lexie just wandered in one spot. We ended up third in there, and we were worth a certificate i.e. we got SA. This entitled us a place at best bitch ring, but we didn't get any further.

Of Friday I have to say one thing, that it went very well for an Northern Finland Shelties, because almost all the top prizes went to us. It was great to be a member on this day. In north we know how to breed fine shelties.

Aina jokaisessa päivässä on pientä epäonnea eli uudesta trimmauspöydästämme meni hukkaan tulomatkalle siipimutteri pultista, joka piti paikallaan vetokahvaa. Saimme vedettyä romppeemme trimmipöydän päällä kisapaikalle, mutta vaivalloisesti. Mutteria ei löytynyt mistään, vaikka kuinka haimme. Näyttelyn jälkeen kasasimme romppeemme. Ennen yöpymispaikallemme menoa kävimme hankkimassa Motonetistä uuden ruuvi-mutteri-combon, että saisimme tavaramme paikalle huomenna paremmin.

Each time you have a little bad luck i.e. a wing nut of a bult went missing of our new trimming table on our way to show. It kept the handle in place. We our stuff there and back, but not without sweat. The bult could not be found anywhere, no matter how much we seek. After the show we put our stuff back together. Before going to our hotel, we had a stop over at Motonet to acquire a new screw-nut combo that we could use so that we could get our stuff better on the spot tomorrow.

Yöpymispaikkaamme oli Tahkovuoren Sokos. Petri oli varannut sieltä meille kaksi yötä. Saimme siis pienen loman samalla. Huoneemme oli ihana, koska se oli ensinnäkin kaksikerroksinen ja toiseksi siellä oli oma saunansa. Illalla saimmekin sitten rentoutua ensin lenkillä luonnossa ja sitten saunassa kylpemällä päivän pölyt niskasta. Illalla huomasin myös, että paljoa aurinkoa ei ihoni tarvitse palaakseen - olin saanut taas punaiset rusketusraidat. Kuopio ei petä koskaan!

Our place to stay was the Tahkovuori Sokos Hotel. Petri had booked us a room for two nights. Thus, we had a small break at the same time. Our room was lovely, because it had two floors and own sauna. In the evening we got to relax - first a walk in the nature and then in the sauna to bath all the dust off. In the evening, I noticed also that I don't need a lot of sun on my skin to burn - I had received a tan with red stripes. Kuopio never lets you down!

Lauantai 4.8.2012 - Sawo Show

Hyvinnukutun yön jälkeen nousimme taas virkeinä ylös ja lähdimme kohti näyttelykehää. Matkaa oli Tahkolta n. 60 km näyttelypaikallemme, joten aikaa meni sinne ajaessakin. Paikalle saavuimme melko ajoissa, mutta tavaroitamme kasatessa huomasimme, että uusi pultti olikin väärän kokoinen. Lisäksi olimme jättäneet vanhan pultin hotellille, joten meidän piti keksi hyvä kikka, jolla saisimme tavaramme vietyä perille. Lopulta teimme patentin, joka toimi todella huonosti. Matkaan parkkipaikalta itse telttamaalle kesti puoli tuntia. Meillä tuli siis pienoinen kiire, mutta se kestettiin. Koira saatiin aikanaan kehään ja kaikki ok.

After a good night sleep we got up refreshed and headed toward the show ring. The distance was about 60 km from Tahko to venue, so it took some time to drive. We arrived at the scene fairly early, but as we piled our stuff, we noticed that the new bolt was the wrong size. In addition, we had left the old bolt to the hotel, so we had came up with a good gimmick, so that we could get our stuff exported to the destination. In the end we made a patent, which was really bad. The trip from the parking lot to the tent spot took half an hour. We, therefore, had a bit of a hurry, but it was tolerated. The dog was in the ring on time and everything was ok.

Lauantainakin kehämme oli nro 23. Tuomarina toimi Andersson Johnny Ruotsista. Paikalle oli saapunut 48 shelttiä, joista 5 oli pentuja, 18 oli uroksia ja 25 oli narttuja. Lexie kilpaili tänäänkin nuorten luokassa. Luokassamme oli 8 koiraa. Tänään olin hieman sisuuntunut pienestä kommelluksestamme eilen, joten halusin nyt tehdä kaiken paremmin. Lexie olikin otteessani paljon paremmin tänään ja toimi kuin unelma kehässä. Tuloksena oli ERI eli erinomainen. Tästä jatkoimme sitten kilpakehään luonnollisesti. ERIn saaneita koiria ei ollut kuin kolme, joten mukana olivat myös EH:n eli erittäin hyvän saaneet koirat. Aluksi olimme kehässä numerojärjestyksessä, mutta tuomari lopulta siirti edestämme taaksemmas yhden koiran ja huomasin olevani jonon kärjessä. Tällöin pääsimme kiertämään kehää vapaasti ja kaikki meni hienosti. Loppukaarteessa huomasin, että tuomari tulee kohti meitä ja kättelee meidät ensimmäiseksi eli VOITIMME RYHMÄMME! Olin hurjan onnellinen, koska tämä oli paras palkinto eilisen pienelle kämmille. Lisäksi saimme vielä SA:n ja pääsimme PN- eli paras narttu -kehään. Paras narttu -kehässäkään meidän ei tarvinnut hävetä, koska sijoituimme siellä neljänneksi eli olimme päivän 4. paras narttu. Hieno päivä ja upea tunne tuli tuollaisesta onnistumisesta.

On Saturday too our was no. 23. Today the judge was Johnny Andersson from Sweden. There were 48 shelties of which 5 were puppies, 18 were males and 25 were females. Lexie competed today in the intermediate class. In our class there were 8 dogs. Today I was a little bit pissed of mishaps of yesterday, so now I wanted to make everything better. I had Lexie in good grip all the time and it went much better today. Lexie worked like a dream in the ring. The result was an excellent i.e. EXC. For this, we continued to compete ring. Dogs who got excellent were only three, so there were those in the ring who got 'very good'. At first we were in the ring in numerical order, but then the judge moved one dog in front of us behind, and I found myself at the front of the queue. In this case, we were able to circulate freely and everything went just fine. In the final turn I noticed that the judge come toward us and shook my hand to say that we won the class - we were first! I was really happy about it because this was the best reward for the small mistake of yesterday. In addition, we received SA, and we got to be in the best bitch ring. In the best bitch ring we were not bad, because there were we ranked fourth so we were the 4th best female of the day. What a great day and a great feeling came of that kind of success.

Kehän jälkeen kävimme hakemassa trimmauspöytämme myyjää, että olisiko hänellä ylimääräistä siipimutteria meille. Löysimme hänet ja saimme häneltä uuden kappaleen! Ihana mies, kun auttoi meitä näin pienessä ongelmassamme. Kokosimme lopuksi tavaramme ja raahasimme ne autollemme. Mikään ei saanut tämän päivän fiilistä huonoksi, koska kaikki meni niin hienosti! Illalla avasimmekin kuohuviinipullon neidin voiton kunniaksi. Lisäksi tytöt saivat maukkaan liha-aterian illalla.

After the ring we went to find the seller who sold us our new trimming table and as, if he might have an extra wing nut for us. We found him and he gave us a new nut! A wonderful man, when he was able to help us in such a small problem. Finally, we put all our stuff and dragged them to our car. There ain't a thing that would ruin this day for us, because everything went so well! In the evening we opened a bottle of sparkling wine in honor of todays victory. In addition, girls were given a tasty meat-meal in the evening.

Sunnuntai 5.8.2012 - Sivuerikoisnäyttely

Sunnuntaina ohjelmassa oli shetlanninlammaskoirien sivuerikoisnäyttely Musti ja Mirri -areenalla Kuopiossa. Paikalle saapuisi tänään n. 120 shelttiä näyttelemään, joista pentuja oli 27, uroksia 34 ja narttuja 60. Narttujen määrä oli huima. Olisi hienoa päästä korkealle tänään.

On Sunday we had a side special show for shetland sheepdogs at Musti and Mirri Arena in Kuopio. There would be about 120 shelties today at the show, of which 27 were puppies, 34 males and 60 females. The amount of females were huge. It would be great to get high today.

Tuomarina nartuille toimi kehässä 2 Gartland Tracy Englannista. Lexie kilpaili nuorten luokassa. Luokassamme oli 12 koiraa. Kehämme meni mainiosti ja taas Lexie toimi kuin unelma. Tuomari oli pyytänyt ennen kehien alkua, että jokainen kävelisi koiran kanssa. Kukaan ei saanut juosta. Teimme työtä käskettyä. Onneksi Lexien kanssa ei ole hätää, onko vauhtia vai ei, koska neiti kulkee aina omalla tahdillaan. Parhaiten liikkeet tulevat esille tosin paremmassa vauhdissa, mutta eivät ne kävellenkään huonot ole. Tuloksena oli ERI eli erinomainen ja tämä oikeutti meille sijan kilpaluokkaan. Kilpaluokassa seisoimme taas upeasti ja tuomarilla oli selkeästi ollut kuulemma vaikeuksia päättää voittaja. Lopulta tuomari sijoitti meidät toiseksi ja saimme SA:n kaupan päälle. Pääsisimme siis PN- eli paras narttu -kehään. Siellä tuulemme ei kantanut, vaan tipuimme pois pääsakista. Pääsimme kuitenkin taas erkkarissa PN-kehään, joka on aina jotakin. Palkinnoksi saimme kuitenkin 2. sijastamme pokaalin ja namipussin.

The judge in the ring 2 for bitches was Gartland Tracy from England. Lexie competed in the intermediate class. In our class there were 12 dogs. Our ring went nicely and Lexie worked like a dream. The judge had asked prior to the start of rings that everyone had to walk with the dog. No one was to run. We did the work commanded. Fortunately Lexie had kept the pace, because she always walks on her own. The best moves come our in speed, but moves are not bad either on walking speed. The result was excellent i.e. EXC and it justified a place for us in compete class. In compete class, while we stood magnificently, and the judge had reportable clearly difficulties to decide the winner. Eventually, the judge placed us in second place and we got SA. We could, therefore, go to the best bitch ring. Our wings didn't carrie there for long. However, we were able to be in Best Bitch ring in specialty show, which is always something. However, we were rewarded with a trophy and bag of dog treats.

Viikonloppumme menikin siis todella upeasti eli saimme todella upeat arviot, uskoa tulevaisuuteen ja paljon paljon vahvistusta itsetunnollemme. Vielä olisi edessä yksi näyttely eli Rovaniemen ryhmänäyttely 26.8.2012. Sitten jäämme tauolle Lexien kanssa ja keskitymme agilityharrastukseemme enemmän.

Our weekend went, therefore, really nicely, or we got really great reviews, a lot of faith in the future and gained a lot of self-esteem. Yet one show would be in front of us - a group show at Rovaniemi on 26th of August. Then we will go on a break and focus on Lexie's agility more.

Kemi KV 21.7.2012

Kävimme lauantaina 21.7. pyörähtämässä Lexien kanssa Kemin KV:ssa. Tuomarina toimi Tuula-Maija Tammelin Tanskasta. Kenttänä toimi Kemin Sauvosaaren urheilupuisto. Kehämme oli nro 12 ja paikalle oli saapunut 55 shelttiä, joista 4 oli pentuja, 24 uroksia ja 27 narttuja. Me kilpailimme nuorten kehässä.

We went to Kemi International dog show on 21st of July. Judge was Tuula-Maija Tammelin from Denmark. Field for the show was sport park at Sauvosaari. Our ring was 12. There were 55 shelties present, 4 puppies, 24 males and 27 females. We competed in young dogs class.

Päivä oli ihan kaunis. Päätimme autollamme, että emme ota telttaa mukaan, koska aurinko ei paista eikä sadakaan. Voisimme ihan hyvin tulla toimeen ilman sitäkin. Valitettavasti näin ei käynyt, vaan jouduimme hakeutumaan suojaan ennen kehäämme. Onneksi Seija ja Juha antoivat meidän tulla telttansa nurkkaan suojaan. Lisäksi Juha vaatetti meidän Peten, koska mussu oli unohtanut takin kotiin. Kaunis kiitos!

Day was beautiful. We desided at the car that we don't take the tent with us, because sun won't shine hotly and it doesn't rain. We could go there without it. Unfortunately it wasn't so and we had took seek cover from the rain before our turn in the ring. Luckily Seija and Juha allowed us to come in their tent. Juha even gave Petri his extra jacket, because our little one had forgotten his own at home. Big thank to them!

Viimein pääsimme kehään. Tuomari oli ihana, kun hän keskusteli kaiken koirasta kanssamme. Kaikki hyvät ja huonot puolet tulivat selväksi. Lexie toimi kehässä hyvin, mutta kulkemiseen pitää kiinnittää enemmän huomiota. Voisimme harjoitella sitä mätsäreissä. Tuloksemme olikin ERInomainen. Kilpaluokassa sijoituimme kolmanneksi - NUK3 - SA:n kera Agnesin ja Ylvan jälkeen. Tuomari sanoi, että olimme hyvä kolmonen. Arvostelu oli upea!

At last we got to go to the ring. Judge was lovely, because she talked through all when she judged Lexie. All the good and bad things came sure clearly. Lexie did good at the ring, but we have to practise our moving. We could do that in unofficial shows. Our result was EXCEllent. In competition, we came third - NUK3 - with CK after Agnes and Ylva. Judge said we were good thirds. Review was amazing!

Oulu KV - 14.7.2012

Tänään järjestettiin Oulun Äimärautiolla kansainväliset koiranäyttelyt. Me osallistuimme myös sinne Lexien kanssa. Tuomarina toimi Per Svarstad Ruotsista. Paikalle oli ilmoittautunut 48 shelttiä, joista pentuja oli 4, uroksia 18 ja narttuja 26.

Today was held at Oulu Äimärautio international dog show. We went there with Lexie. Judge was Per Svarstad from Sweden. There were 48 shelties, 4 pups, 18 males and 26 females. 

Ilma oli taas kaunis, vaikka pelkäsimme vesisadetta. Onneksi sitä ei sitten tullut. Toisaalta olisi ollut kiva, että olisi satanut, turkkimme ei olisi ollut niin auringonpolttama. Tuloksena oli ERInomainen, mutta kilpaluokassa jäimme hännille. Arvostelu oli tosin täynnä kehuja.

Weather was beautiful, although we feared it might rain. Luckily that wasn't the case. Although it would have been better for us, because on rain Lexies coat wouldn't be so sunburnt. Result was EXCEllent, but nothing more. Our review was full of praises.

Kokkola KV - 7.7.2012

Näyttelykesä avattu ja lähdimme ensimmäiseksi kohti Kokkolaa kauniina lauantaisena kesäpäivänä. Tämä olisi rento päivä siksi, että näyttelyvuoromme oli vasta iltapäivästä eli kehämme alkaisi klo 13. Paikalla tosin piti olla jo puolilta päivin, joten saimme rennosti viettää aamun, ja sitten hyppäsimme autoomme ja lähdimme ajelemaan kohti Kokkolaa. Matkaan menisi se noin pari tuntia, joten ei kiire.

Our show summer is opened and first we went to Kokkola on this beautiful Saturday summer day. This was a very easy day, because our turn in the ring was at 13 o'clock. You had to be there at noon, but we got to spend morning without hurry. Then we jumped in our car and headed towards Kokkola. It took about 2 hours, so there was no rush.

Vaikka näyttelyyn veimme vain Lexien, lähti Viivi mukaan turistiksi. Emme hennonneet jättää neitiä kuumaan kotiin yksikseen istuskelemaan, vaan otimme neidin mukaan haistelemaan maisemia. Toisaalta kasvattaja Maarit halusi Viiviä nähdä, joten samallahan se meni siinä, missä Lexiekin.

Although we took only Lexie to show (off!), we took our Viivi with us as a tourist. We didn't want to leave our girl at home on this hot day. And of course Viivi's breeder Maarit wanted to see Viivi.

Ennen kehäämme näyteltiin ensin pitkäkarvaiset colliet, joita oli ilo katsella kehän laidalta. Samalla näki, miten tarkasti tuomari toimi ja millaisia asioita hän piti hyvänä. Vaikka collieta arvosteltiinkin, näki sen, mistä tuomari tykkäsi. Olimme parkkeeranneet itsemme siihen kehän laidalle, joten pystyimme seuraamaan kaikkea + Petri pääsi kuvaamaan helposti kehän koirat.

Before our ring, there were long coated collies at first in the ring. It was joy to look at them. At the same time you saw how the judge worked in the ring and what kind of things she though was good. Although they were collies, you could easily see what she liked. We parked ourselves near the ring, so it was easy to see everything + Pete got to take photos easily of the dogs in the ring. 

Lexien kehässä oli vain kolme narttua: Ylva, Lexie ja Leidi. Oli hassua, että tunsi kaikki koirat kehässä. Tästä se kasvattajan ja rotuintoilijan elämä lähtee liikkeelle. 

There were only three dogs in the ring with Lexie: Ylva, Lexie and Leidi. It was fun to notice, that you knew all the dogs in the ring. Breeder's world - Here we come!!! 

Lexie sai hienot kehut, mutta jäimme kolmikosta hännille turkin värin takia. Ylva siis vei voiton - Onnittelut Ainille hienosta handlauksesta. Leidi oli toisena eli Seija vei Leidiä hienosti kehässä eteenpäin. Olimme kolmas, mutta kaikki meidän nartut saivat SA:n ja tuomari kehuihin kehässä, että on ilo katsella näin lupaavia narttuja. Kaikilla oli ylälinjat kohdallaan ja rakenteet hienot. Lexiä tuomari kehui yksilöarvioinnissa paljon, mutta valitteli väriä. Tiedän sen itsekin, aurinko ja geenit tekevät sen valitettavasti tuollaiseksi.

Lexie got fine reviews, but still we ended up last in this ring because of the color of our coat. Ylva won, Leidi was second and we were third. All the bitches got SA and judge told in the ring, that she was very pleased to see such a promising bitches. All had excellent top line and construction. At Lexie judge said lot of praises during table review, but said that the color was not so good. I know it, sun and the genes exposes it to that. Unfortunately...

PN-kehässä oli niin paljon kauniita koiria, että olimme valitettavasti värillämme ensimmäisiä, jotka joutuivat pihalle. Tämä ei tosin haitannut, koska arvostelu oli hieno ja se oli ilo kirjoittaa Lexien näyttelypäiväkirjaan.

At BB-ring, there were lots of beautiful bitches, so we had to leave with the first ones. This wasn't a bad thing, because we got excellent review and it was joy to write it to Lexies show journal. 

Shetlanninlammaskoirien pääerikoisnäyttely 14.4.2012

Shetlanninlammaskoirien pääerikoisnäyttely järjestettiin tänä vuonna Haukiputaan Martinniemessä Martinniemen työväentalolla 14.4.2012 klo 10 - 17. Järjestänä toimi Pohjois-Suomen Sheltit ry. Tuomareina toimivat Dave Weller Iso-Britanniasta ja Irina Poletaeva Suomesta. Paikalle heidän arvioitavaksi oli saapunut 133 shelttiä omistajineen.

Shetland Sheepdogs Speciality Show was held this year at Martinniemi in Haukipudas at Martinniemi Labor Hall. Organize work was done by Pohjois-Suomen Sheltit ry. The judges were Dave Weller from the UK and Irina Poletaeva from Finland. At the show there were 133 shelties and their owners.

Saavuimme paikalle hyvissä ajoin eli jo klo 7.30. Lähdimme mukaan molempien koiriemme kanssa: Lexie (18 kk eli 1 v 6 kk) pääsi kilpailemaan nuorten luokkaan ja Viivi (2 v 10 kk) avoimeen luokkaan. Luokkamme alkoivat vasta ruokailun jälkeen eli n. klo 13, joten aamupäivän sain rauhassa toimia ns. järjestäjäväessä. Olin kääntäjäpalvelussa + olin koonnut näyttelyluettelon järjestäjien antamien tietojen pohjalta. Petri taas toimi kuvaajana koko hommassa, joten olimme taas aktiivisesti mukana tapahtumassa. Koska olin aamun kääntäjäpalvelussa, sain tutustua myös tuomareiden tekemiin arviointeihin. Näin, millaista linjaa molemmat tuomarit käyttivät. Linja oli tiukka ja tarkka eli luvassa olisi perusteellinen arvio koirasta, mikä on aina hieno asia erikoisnäyttelyissä.

We arrived in good time - already at 7.30. We competed with Lexie (18 months - 1 year 6 months) at the Intermediate Class and with Viivi (2 years 10 months) at the Open Class. Our classes started after the lunch break about at 1 o'clock, so before that I could do my duties at the organizer group. I was in the translation service + I did the show catalogue based on the information the organizers provided. Petri was working as a photographer in this entire show, so we were again actively involved in sheltie business. Since I was working as a translator, I got to read evaluations that the judges gave in the ring. I could see what kind of line in evaluation was used by the two judges. Line was tight and precise, so you could have a thorough assessment of the dog, which is always a great thing in these speciality shows.

Koska halusin kantaa vielä korteni kekoon järjestelyssä, toin paikalle kaksi pellillistä kasvispiirakkaa, jonka ohjeen lupasin jakaa. Tässäpä se sitten on. - I wanted to do my share for the organization of this show, so I did two large vegetable pies to serve and I promised to share that recipe. Here you go:

Kasvispiirakka - Vegetable pie

Raaka-aineet - Materials:

250 g voita (butter)

6 dl vehnäjauhoja (wheat flour)

3 - 4 rlk kylmää vettä (spoons of cold water)

1 - 2 prk fetajuustoa (öljyssä tai ilman) (cans of feta cheese (with oil or without)

2 rasiaa kirsikkatomaatteja (packets of cherry tomatoes)

1 prk ranskankermaa (can of sour cream)

3 munaa (eggs)

n. 3.5 dl maito-kermaseosta (50/50) (approximately 3,5 dl of milk and cream mixture - 50/50)

2 tl mustapippuria rouhittuna (teaspoons of black pepper)

1 ruukku tuoretta basilikaa / tai maustepurkista ruokalusikallinen

(1 pot of fresh basil / or a tablespoon of spice jar)

3 dl emmental-raastetta (emmental cheese grated)

Ohjeet:

1. Tee ensin taikina. Lämmitä ja pehmennä voi. Muovaa käsin voista ja jauhoista tasainen massa ja lisää vettä tarpeen mukaan, ei kuitenkaan niin, että taikina pehmenee liikaa. Tulee olla kimmoisaa. Kääri kelmuun ja laita jääkaappiin vetäytymään. - First make the dough. Warm and soften the butter. Form from butter and flour a smooth paste and add water as required, but not too much so that the dough softens too much. It has to be resilient. Wrap it in a foil and place it in the refrigerator to retreat.
2. Puolita kirsikkatomaatit tai pilko halutessasi neljään osaan. Kaada öljy pois fetajuustosta, hienonna basilika. Yhdistä maitokermaseos, munat ja ranskankerma, vatkaa kevyesti kunnes munat ovat sekoittuneet tasaisesti, lisää pippuri ja ripaus suolaa jos tarvetta. Lisää puolet juustoraasteesta. - Halve the cherry tomatoes or chop them in four parts. You choose. Pour water or oil from the feta cheese. Chop fresh basil, if you put it. Combine milk-cream mixture, eggs and sour cream. Whisk gently until eggs are evenly mixed, add pepper and pinch of salt if needed. Add half the grated cheese.
3. Kaulitse taikina leivinpaperin päällä leivinpellin kokoiseksi ja siirrä pellille. Esipaista n. 10 minuuttia, 200 asteessa. Ota pois uunista ja ripottele pinnalle tomaatit, fetakuutiot, basilika ja kaada lopuksi päälle munamaitoseos ja viimeistele vielä juustoraasteella (josta käytit puolet aiemmin). - Roll the dough on baking paper to size the baking tin. Then move it on  the baking tin on the baking paper. Bake it for about 10 minutes in 200 degrees. Remove it from oven and sprinkle with tomatoes, feta cheese, basil, and finally pour the milk over the egg mixture and finish with more grated cheese (the other half of which you were using previously).
4. Paista uunissa, 200 asteessa n. 30 minuuttia tai kunnes täyte on hyytynyt. Laske lämpötilaa 175 - 150 asteeseen lopussa jos pinta tummuu liikaa. Anna piirakan vetäytyä n. puolisen tuntia ennen tarjoilua. - Bake it in the oven in 200 degrees about 30 minutes until the fill has coagulated. Lower the temperature to 175 or 150 degrees in the end if the surface darkens too much. Let the pie settle about 30 minutes before serving.

Lexie - Kråkeslottets Miss Lexus

Lexien kanssa lähdimme tavoittelemaan ERIä perinteisesti. Vähempään emme tyytyisi, mutta kieltämättä aina mielessämme pyörii mahdollisuus huonompaan arvosanaan. Aina se pieni pelko on takaraivossa, mutta tavoitteet on tavoitteita.

With Lexie we went to pursue the Excellent (ERI) grade.  We do not settle for anything less, but certainly there is always thoughts of the possibility of a worse grade. Always that little fear in the back of your head, but the goals are goals.

Paikalle oli saapunut Lexien kasvattaja Linda Andorsen (Lexien veljen) Mr. Cadillacin, Lady Di:n ja Heran  kanssa. Hän asettautui meidän lähistöllemme, joten saimme nopeasti aina neuvoja ja apua, jos sitä tarvitsimme. Hän oli tuonut avukseen myös miehensä Jon-Rogerin, koska hän osallistui kasvattajaluokkaan. Lexien trimmauksessa näyttelykuntoon Linda oli enemmänkin kuin avulias - hän harjasi ja laittoi Lexien minulle. Olin kyllä otettu, koska itselläni on taidot vielä hieman hukassa, mutta nyt ostettavien varusteiden listalle tulee muutama Lindan antama vinkki. Ymmärsin nyt paremmin taas, mikä oli tärkeää ja mikä ei.

Lexie's breeder Linda Andorsen had arrived at he show too with her dogs (Lexie's brother) Mr. Cadillac, Lady Di's and Hera. She build her place near us, so we were always able to have a quick advice and assistance if needed. She had also brought her husband, Jon-Roger, with her to help because she participated in the breeder class. With trimming Lexie to exhibition condition Linda was more than helpful - she brushed and trimmed Lexie for me. Yet I don't have all the skills for the trimming, so it was good that Linda helped. I have put some very essential items at my list of equipment purchased. I understand better now again, what is important and what is not.

Kauhea jännitys alkoi iskeä kellon lähetessä yhtä. Onneksi kehät olivat hieman myöhässä, joten saatoin rauhoitella itseäni hieman vielä. Lindan kanssa porisimme, mitä pitää tehdä ja mitä ei. Lisäksi vanhempani olivat tulleet seuraamaan näyttelyä. Kävin aina heille purkamassa tuntojani välillä.

Terrible tension began to strike when the clock started to get nearer the showtime. Fortunately, the rings were a little late, so I was able to calm myself a little further while. With Linda I talked all the things, what to do and what not. In addition, my parents had come to follow the show. So I was unloading my feeling to them between rings.

Nuorten kehässä tuomarina toimi Dave Weller ja koirakoita oli 7. Numeromme oli 97 ja olimme järjestyksessä 5. esittelyyn menevä. Tuomari jakoi kehän kahtia, joten aluksi kiersivät neljä ensimmäistä ja sitten meidän porukkamme. Sain juosta ensimmäisenä omassamme, joten olin onnellinen. Se oli sitä, mitä halusimmekin. Lexie tarvitsee tilaa mennä, joten jos edessämme vetelee jokin hyvin hidas, olisimme silloin edellä menevän niskassa. Nyt saimme onneksi päättää vauhdin.

Judge at the Intermediate class was Dave Weller and there were 7 dogs competing. Our number was 97 and we were fifth in line. The judge divided us in half, so at first went round the first four and then we last three. I got to run in lead, so I was happy. This was what we wanted. Lexie needs room to go ahead, so if we have a very slow dog ahead of us, we would be running on their heels all the time. Now, fortunately, we got to decide the speed.

Yksilöarvostelussa tietysti nostimme ensin koiran pöydälle arvioitavaksi ja sitten tuomari pyysi aina kävelemään edestakaisin kaksi kertaa eli tuomarista poispäin ja sitten takaisin. Tämän jälkeen seisoisimme arvioinnin ajan tuomarin edessä sivuttain. Pöydällä neiti toimi oikein ja antoi tuomarin tutkia rauhassa. Kävelymme meni paremmin kuin odotin eli hyvin hyvin rauhallisesti. Lopuksi seisoimme rauhassa edessä. Välillä korjailin asentoamme, mutta muuten olin todella tyytyväinen. Tulokseksi saimme sitten tuomarilta ERIn!

On individual review we first put the dog on the table for review and then judge asked us to walk back and forth twice - away from the judges and then back again. After that we were standing in front of the judge during the evaluation. On the table she was good and allowed the judge to study her. A walk went better than I expected and very, very calmly. Finally, we stood in front of the judge in peace sometimes correcting our pose. I was really pleased. Finally we got the result and it was Excellent!

Tämän jälkeen jäimme odottamaan nuorten luokan kilpailuluokkaa. Kaikki ERIn saaneet tulisivat silloin takaisin kehään ja meidät aseteltaisiin sitten järjestykseen. Kävin Lexien kanssa taas pyörähtämässä vanhempieni luona mutkan tunteita purkamassa.

Because of the Excellent grade, we now waited for the competition class of the intermediate class. There all the dogs who got Excellent have come back into the ring. Then the judge will assemble us in winning order. I went with Lexie to visit my parents while we waited the call back.

Kilpailukehässä koirakoita oli viisi eli koska ERI-arvosanan sai vain kolme koirakkoa, mukaan otettiin myös EH-arvosanan eli Erittäin Hyvän saaneet koirat. Seisoimme taas järjestyksessä rivissä. Jokaisen koirakon piti lisäksi kävellä edestakaisin tuomarista poispäin ja takaisin. Taas paikallaan seisominen ja kävely menivät hyvin. Olin niin tyytyväinen. Ilmeisesti liikkumisemme ja esiintymisemme oli hienoa, koska voitimme luokkamme eli olimme NUK 1 ja saimme SA:n! Tästä seuraisi se, että menisimme sitten PN-kehään eli Paras Narttu -kehään. Ennen PN-kehää esittelin Viivin välissä avoimessa luokassa.

In competition ring the were five dogs because of there were only three dogs who got the Excellent grade, so there were those dogs too who got Very Good (EH) grade. We all stood in a row again. Judge put us everyone to walk back and forth away from and back from judge. Our standing still and walking went well again. I was so happy. Apparently we did move and presented us fine, because we won our class so we were NUK 1 and we got SA! That meant that next we would go to the Best Bitch ring. Before BB ring I presented Viivi at the Open Class.

PN-kehään eli Paras Narttu -kehään pääsivät kaikki SA:n eli Sertifikaatin Arvoinen -arvosanan saaneet koirat kaikista luokista. Yleensä näitä ovat 1. ja 2. luokassaan. PN-kehään pääsi 6 koirakkoa. Me olimme ainoa trikki kehässä eli kehässä oli soopelivalta.

In Best Bitch ring got all the dogs who got SA as Worth of Certificate grade at their class. Generally, these were those who were positioned 1st and 2nd in their class. There were six dogs at BB ring.We were the only tricolor in the ring - all the others were sable.

Tuomarina tässäkin kehässä toimi Dave Weller ja hän pyysi meitä tekemään samoin kuin muissakin kilpailukehissä eli ensin seisoimme paikallamme, kun hän kiersi koirat kaikki lävitse. Tämän jälkeen kävelimme tuomarista poispäin ja takaisin kerran. Tämäkin kertamme meni mainosti ja tuomari sijoitti meidät PN:n kehän neljänneksi eli olimme PN 4!

The judge in the ring again was Dave Weller, and he asked us to do the same as in the other competition rings - first we stood still, when judge went around all the dogs. After that we walked away from and back to the judge. This too went well and finally judge placed us fourth! We were fourth best bitch in this show!

Viivi - Dash'ing Glamourous Geisha

Viivin kehä oli suoraan Lexien kehän jälkeen. Koska voitimme kehän, menin kauhealla juoksulla hakemaan Viivin. Onneksi olin harjannut ja laittanut Viivin hyvin aikaisemmin, joten hirveä huoli minulla ei ollut siitä. Kauhea kiire vain oli, kun juoksin Lexien häkkiin ja Viivin takaisin kehään. Lisäksi olin vahingossa jättänyt toisen esittelyremmin kotiin, joten siinä kiireessä revin punaiset nauhat hihnasta pois ja vaihdoin nauhan Lexien kaulasta Viivin kaulaan.

Viivi's ring was directly after Lexie's ring. Since we won the ring, I was bit at a hurry and ran to get Viivi. Fortunately, I had brushed and trimmed Viivi well in the past, so I did not have worry about it. I only had a terrible hurry, when I ran to the cage and switched Lexie to Viivi and ran back to the ring. In addition, I had left the other show leach at home, so in haste I tore the red tape out of the leach, and I changed the leach from Lexie's neck to Viivi's neck.

Koska tuomari oli sama kuin Lexien kehässä, tuomari ja kehäsihteeri naureskelivat, kun saavuin kehään hieman myöhässä. Miksiköhän?

As the judge was the same as in Lexie's ring, the judge and the secretary of the ring were laughing, when I arrived a little late into the ring. I wonder why?

Narttujen avoimessa kehässä oli koirakoita monta - 27 koirakkoa, joista kaksi oli vielä poiskin. Onneksi olimme aakkosissa alkupäässä, joten meidän ei tarvinnut odotella kauhean kauaa arviointiamme. Toisaalta olisihan se ollut kiva, että olisin voinut hieman rauhoittua edellisen kehän jälkeen. Tavoitteenamme oli myös Viivin kanssa saada mahdollisimman hyvä arvosana eli ERI tai EH. Neiti oli tosin turhan iloisella tuulella eli pomputti ja nauratti koko ajan.

In bitches Open Ring lots of dogs - 27 and two had dropped out. Fortunately, we were at the beginning of the alphabet, so we did not have to wait terribly long for our evaluation. On the other hand It would have been nice to have some free time before the evaluation, because I could have used that time to calm down a little after the previous ring. Our goal was to get as Viivi with a good grade - ERI or EH. Our Miss Viivi though was admittedly too merry - she was bouncing and laughing all the time.

Pöydällä seisoimme taas hienosti. Häntä oli alhaalla ja olemus hieno. Tuomari sai tutkia neidin hyvin, vaikka aluksi luulinkin, että Viivi pelkäisi tätä harmaata miestä. Onneksi otteeni rauhoitti neitiä, joten hän oli ihan rennosti ja antoi tuomarin tutkia rauhassa. Kävelyssämme oli hieman parantamisen varaa, koska häntä nousi ylös hieman. Onneksi seisoimme arvosteltavana hyvin nätisti ja saimme arvosanaksi EH:n eli Erittäin Hyvän. Nyt jäisimme odottelemaan muita arviointeja eli jos tuomari ei anna neljää ERIä, menisimme kehään uudelleen. Näin ei käynyt, joten Viivi sai olla rauhassa lopun iltapäivän. On the table we stood great. She had her tail down and appearance was fine. The judge examined her nicely even though at first I thought that Viivi would be afraid of the gray man. Fortunately my touch calmed jher, so she was pretty relaxed and allowed the judge to do his thing in peace. In our walking there where a little thing to correct, because she lifted her tail up a little. Fortunately, we were standing very nicely when judged and we got a grade Very Good. Now we were waiting for further judges evaluations. If the judge does not give the four ERI's at the ring, then would have to go back into the ring. That did not happen, so Viivi was left free at the end of the afternoon. The evaluation can be read from Viivi's own page.

Kasvattajaluokka - Breeders Class

Kasvattajaluokkaan oli ilmoittautunut kuusi kasvattajaa. Mukaan itse ryhmään pääsivät arvostelujen pohjalta kolme ryhmää: Helsko, Kråkeslottets (Lindan kennel) ja Dash'ing (Maaritin kennel).

There were six breeder groups at the Breeders class. According to the group ratings there were only three groups: Helsko, Kråkeslottets (Linda's kennel) and Dash'ing (Maarit's kennel).

Kasvattajaluokassa olivat mukana tosiaan molemmat koirani - Viivi Maaritin ryhmässä ja Lexie Lindalla. Linda halusi esittää Lexien ja annoin neidin hänelle, koska olisin Viivin kanssa Maaritin ryhmässä samassa kehässä. Minulla ei ole koskaan ollut kokemusta kasvattajakehästä, mutta nyt olin siellä molemmilla koirillani. Hyvä ensimmäinen kerta. Ehkä olen joskus tulevaisuudessa omalla ryhmälläni siellä.

Both of my dogs were at Breeders Class - Viivi in Maarit's group and Lexie in Linda's. Linda wanted to take Lexie there and I gave my girl to her, because I would have Viivi in the same ring. I've never had an experience of the Breeders Class and now I was there with both of my dogs. A good first time. Maybe sometime in the future I'll have my own team out there.

Kasvattajaluokan voiton vei Helskon porukka, toiseksi tuli Lindan ryhmä ja Maaritin sijoittui kolmanneksi. Ruokapussin sain siis tästäkin kehästä.

Breeder Class was won by Helsko's pack, the second was Linda's pack and on a third place Maarit's pack. Again I got a dog food bag.

Pääerikoisnäyttelystä muuten

Paikkana Martinniemen työväentalo oli hieno. Tilaa oli niin yleisölle kuin koirakoillekin. Kehät olivat avarat ja niissä oli hyvä esiintyä. Tuntui, että palvelut pelasivat kaikin puolin ja lisäksi meillä oli tulospalvelu, jota päivitettiin nettiin kaikkien ryhmien jälkeen. Meidän talkooväki oli kyllä tehnyt mahtavaa työtä. Iso hatunnosto heille!

The Martinniemi's community hall was very nice place. There were lots of space for the public and dogs. The rings were spacious and it was good to show your dog there. It felt that the services were playing in every way, and in addition we had a results service, which was updated in the net after each ring. Our organizers had certainly done a great job.
